Palace Hotel Saigon: A Tale of Two Cities (Central Location vs. Ageing Charm)
The Palace Hotel Saigon presents a curious case study in contrasts. On the one hand, its undeniable prime location in the heart of Ho Chi Minh City is a siren song for any city explorer. Stepping out the door, you're a stone's throw from the Saigon Opera House, Ben Thanh Market, and the vibrant buzz of Nguyen Hue Boulevard. It's a location that screams convenience and access to all the city offers.
However, as you cross the threshold and delve deeper, doubts about the four-star claim begin to flicker. The age hangs heavy in the air, manifesting in rooms that feel more "compact" than spacious, particularly the aptly named Dekux rooms. Breakfast, while not a disaster, fails to ignite the taste buds, falling squarely into the realm of "average."
It's hard to shake the feeling that the Palace Hotel Saigon is resting on its laurels, relying on its prime location to overshadow its tired features. Vietnam's booming tourism industry deserves hotels that not only boast convenient addresses but also deliver experiences that match their star rating.
Here's what could tip the scales for the Palace Hotel Saigon
The Palace Hotel Saigon sits at a crossroads. With a little TLC and a renewed focus on guest experience, it could blossom into a true four-star gem, adding its own sparkle to the dazzling tapestry of Ho Chi Minh City. However, if it remains content to coast on its location, it risks fading into the background, another footnote in the city's ever-evolving story.
So, dear Palace Hotel Saigon, the choice is yours. Will you rewrite your narrative or let yourself become a relic of a bygone era? The city, and its ever-curious travelers, await...

WARNING, do not book a room at this hotel!
We booked through Agoda. The hotel may have been a 4-star hotel several years ago. The room is really old and needs renovation. We got room 413 with a view towards an internal wall so we only got natural sunlight and street view. There was an occasional smell of smoke coming into the room from the AC. I notified the front desk two days in a row because of this. They just came with such a spray and removes the smell. You could hear drunk guests screaming and making noise in the hallway at 2:45 in the morning. The toilet was old and had a bad flush. Everything was bad here apart from the location, but I could have found a better hotel for that price. Stayed there for three nights and it was the worst nights of my life. There were mosquitoes in the room so we were bitten throughout the night. It was so ugly there that I couldn't bear to take more...
Read moreThe location of this hotel really fits for travelers coming to Ho Chi Minh for tour and exploring as it is located in Nguyen Hue walking street in night time and you can mingle around in night time that we don't need to go far as it is surrounded by big famous brands in fashion, big shopping mall suc as Saigon Center, local restaurants, local coffee shops that I like most is Vietnamese ice coffee with little sugar added. Anyway, overall hotel room and service quality is acceptable, but with room interior I have stayed in that I don't think it can comply up to 4 Star Hotel standard because air-conditioning is not located in right place in room itself and even power socket such as we need to use for charging phone placing under bed table so I have to take time 😄to find where it is in first time entering room provided. Overall, it is acceptable, anyways I think prices I pay for to get 4 star hotel room quality that it is not there...
