It may have once been a 4 star, but no longer. Check in couldn't find my booking, and then had to make a phone call to find it. To then be told my room would be 30 minutes. Even though I had advised them of my arrival time. This was soon rectified when I reminded them of this. The room was very dated, although comfortable. The bathroom was dirty, hairs and an unemptied bin. The shower over bath was not very suitable for our children, nor for an adult when showering next to a glass window!
On arrival I had to call maintenance as we had live electrical cable in a largish switch box next to my children's bed exposed
Mid way through our stay we lost hot water. On calling maintenance, 30 minutes later, we were fixed. To be then told it would take 15 minutes to heat up. Not handy when trying to get the kids to bed.
First night we realised our room, although at the back of the hotel, was still subjected to the noise from the nightclub over the road which continued into the early hours.
Room servicing made our bed and changed our sheets, and kindly switched.of our AC, so on a return we had to wait for the AC in the room to take effect.
First breakfast, I found that all of the pork products were under an inadequate lamp to keep them warm. They were stone cold. I advised them of this and they went and reheated me a plate full. No thanks! So they went and got me a new plate. Still cold.
I took my kids to the pool to find it outside, unheated with an empty jacuzzi, so I fail to see the Spa in the name being met.
I tried to call my friend in another room, this took 30 minutes and 4 phone calls, due to the reception staff not speaking English. It would have been quicker to send a carrier pigeon.
For the amount of money we spent, by Vietnamese standards, this one was a waste of money. I wouldn't recommend it, even though many of the staff were very polite...
Read moreThere are some hotels that can benefit from a face-lift and modernization. Then, there are others that need to be demolished and never rebuilt. This is the latter.
Everywhere one looks are signs of age and decay. This was probably a grand old lady, built to exceed the highest communist party standards when it debuted in the 1700s. But alas decades and lack of funds have taken their toll. It is time for someone to do this lady a mercy and unplug her.
I had to run around in the shower just to lightly coat myself in brown tinted water. One would think with water pressure that abysmal it would take some time for the hot water to run out. Not so. Shower quick my friends.
The beds are lumpy and hard, the linens are paper thin and the towels have seen more use than... well God, I really don't want to think about that.
If someone knocks at the door at 2 am demanding you go down to the front desk, don't answer, don't open the door. Apparently, this is a common scam here.
Entertainment is free, however. From my balcony, I had an excellent view of a 2 am lively street brawl at the "SpaceX" bar across the street, complete with screaming women, smashing beer bottles and usual fisticuffs. It carried on for a good 45 minutes. No police or ambulance ever showing up to interrupt the show. Nice.
The breakfast buffet is quite tasty tho. Lots of variety of local and western food. Relatively fresh and I didn't get sick.
In sum, if you're visiting from a third world country where amenities like indoor plumbing, non dirt floors and enough food are considered rare treats, then no doubt you will very much enjoy your stay at the Huong Giang. Otherwise, you may want to...
Read moreHorrible Service! We booked 6 nights. What a mistake!! Night 1&2 no room service available to clean out room.
Night 3 when they did clean they stole 1/4 of my shampoo by skimming the bottle.
Night 4 they skimmed another 1/4 of my shampoo bottle which left me with only 1/2 bottle left of a brand new bottle which I then had to bring with me to travel donthey don’t steal all of my bottle.
Night 5 I had guests and they told my local guests (who were not fortunate as money wise) that we were not in our room when in fact we were. My uncle has to wait outside for 2 hours until happened to be downstairs and ran into him.
Night 6 we wanted to book a boat ride for 11 people They tokd is that they only had boats available at the hotel for $150/ for family boat ride. Yet we asked for the boat outside from hotel for $5/pp they told us it’s not safe. Not available. All sorts of excuses. So we had locals grabbed us the tickets instead. This hotel is only about how much $ they can milk from people. They don’t know what respect & services are.
Night 7 we moved to Century Hotel next door for another 6 nights. better Room w. River view and all the amenities and service Cheaper in price/Excellent service/No disrespect regardless of status. Everyone are treated the same.
Anyone whose thinking of this horrible Huong Giang hotel. Don’t Stay Here. It’s horrible. I give Huong Giang a...
