I'm sorry, but the food was a great miss for me and my family.
We visited here a few days ago during our stay in Hue, and ordered five dishes: Tartar: The meat of the tartar was overshadowed by the vinegar marinade. The cracker dominated over the filling and overpowered the star of the dish, which was supposed to be the meat in this assortment. Chicken in bamboo: The sauce was great, as were SOME of the chicken pieces, but half of them were dry. The fruit flavored sticky rice was also flavorless. Duck: The duck was prepared very well, since the meat was tender and flavorful. But the gratin was super dry, I left it unfinished, because even the sauce couldn't save it... And I have to say, the sauce was very strong - perhaps it's supposed to be, but I couldn't eat it on its own, only mixed with the puree and vegetable. Therefore, the duck is best enjoyed on its own, with salt. Seafood linguine: This was the chefs recommendation and fell short on many aspects. First of all, considering the price of the dish, they definately skimped on the ingredients - f. Ex. my father found only a small piece of anchovis in his pasta. And there should have been much more seafood altogether in the dish. Second of all, the quality of the ingredients was not satisfactory - the fish could have been fresher and the squid was chewy. Third, the sauce lacked flavor, we had to add a considerable amount of salt to elevate the dish. Usually, seafood pastas are flavorful on their own, since the ingredients are so prominent, but somehow the flavors didn't stick for this dish. Seafood rice: This was the biggest miss. The staff brought us a broth that they instructed us to consume with the rice, if it was too dry. And it was dry. Not only was the rice dry, but the vegetables used in the dish were obviously from a frozen mix. You can tell from the lack of flavor and consistency of the vegetables. They even looked like they came straight from a frozen package. This could be a big reason, why the rice was so dry and flavorless. The rice was also lacking in seafood, which once again is unacceptable at this price point.
Our family doesn't leave food uneaten out of principle, but we were all close to leaving these dishes unfinished.
It's truly regrettable that the amazing interior and service is so overshadowed by the lackluster quality of food.
Perhaps the cocktails might have been delicious, or the noodle soup as mentioned in some of the reviews, but alas - we made bad choices when choosing our dishes and would not recommend...
Read moreI was looking for a place for breakfast and decided to give Vi Huê a visit due to the reviews and was not disappointed. I had an international breakfast (full English) with a salted coffee to accompany it and it was all delicious. As much as I enjoy having food local to the region I feel it's nice to have something a bit closer to home and it didn't disappoint. The atmosphere of the restaurant is very relaxed and the service was very welcoming, my server Mong was very friendly from the start and provided great service. I would recommend a try of this restaurant if you're in the area.
Update I've been pestered by some guys to do an easy rider tour down to Hoi An and the surrounding area to the point where the second guy noticed another one approach me and start arguing outside the restaurant, the staff were quick to notice and send them on their way and offer for me to sit inside away from them. It was a small gesture but it felt great that they felt the need to help me out as otherwise they wouldn't have left me alone to do tours that I wasn't...

What truly made our evening unforgettable, though, was our waitress—Dream. And yes, that’s really her name! She lived up to it in every possible way. Dream was friendly, attentive, and incredibly knowledgeable about the menu. She had the perfect balance of professionalism and warmth, making us feel both cared for and at home. Her recommendations were spot-on—we especially loved the grilled sea bass and the house-made tiramisu.
The food was absolutely delicious, beautifully presented, and clearly made with care. The timing between courses was perfect, and we never once felt rushed or ignored. Dream checked in just the right amount, always with a genuine smile.
I can't recommend this place enough. If you're lucky enough to have Dream as your server, your night will truly...
