Spoiler alert, I am a retired, successful restaurant owner. I ordered a pepperoni pizza and enquired about the wine list. A « free » bruschetta and stale beer arrived. The bruschetta was a crouton with a teaspoon of raw, diced tomato certainly not bruschetta! The waitress meanwhile was behind me chatting to an English couple. I tried to signal to her but she ignored and her chat continued for over ten mns. I emphasise she was chatting not taking an order. After half an hour I still had no wine so I went to the kitchen where the wine was kept and with hand gestures tried to explain to the only other server that I would like some wine. Nothing happenned and the pizza did not appear either so after over one hour of waiting the wine arrived and stiil no pizza! I stood up, paid for the « free » beer and bruschetta and left. Worst example in my life of a young student acting as server after her university studies ( I heard her tell the chat couple she was a student ). Straight out of Monty Python. Just had an AI reply from the restaurant . You are incorrect with my review. I agree with your security cameras as I gave the exact times that concur with your cameras . I staed 40 mns and cameras printed 37 mns so I was not embellishing my complaint. I mentioned one hour later in the review but that was me walking out in disgust on the street. As a Professional I would dismiss the server as a liability. Of course one engages with customers but not have a full blown conversation. The restaurant was busy but I never complained about the delay for the pizza although it was very slow as a pizza takes about three to five mns to prepare and five to seven mns baking ( if the oven is correct temperature and is stone and brick lined inside ). It is a small restaurant , at a guess would seat about 30 people, I didn’t count so could be wrong. I did notice that about 20 plus customers were eating so I was not the last order of 20 orders. I estimate that my pizza should have been served within twenty mns. As I ordered the pizza immediately and instructed the server to place the order whilst I decided on which grossly overpriced wine of 140 dong for 125ml glass, They had a Chile « Frontera » red wine for this price and it is a very basic wine. I wish I could have given less than one star as service and ambience are so important . Shame I didnt have a chance to try...
Read moreAfter two weeks of Vietnamese cuisine (which I love) I decided, while in Hue, to try an Italian meal for a change, not being sure how noodle experts from the East would render the Western noodle tradition. The tagliatelli was made in-house and elevated my pasta with gorgonzola, ham and cream sauce selection (115K) above expectation. This was better than many meals I have had in Italy! The menu is vast with many tempting options. I would have liked to try the pumpkin ravioli as a starter but wishing to keep my record for eating local at every meal unbroken, I ordered the fried pork spring rolls instead. Tasty and 5 generous-sized rolls with side salad. The restaurant has various promotions -- a free passion fruit between certain hours (which was delectable) -- a free local beer with any pizza order (apparently pizzas (25-30in 140-160K) are their most popular menu item). I did try the local brew which is very palatable for 15K a glass. I finished my meal with a milk coffee on ice, which was good. One suggestion might be to expand the range of coffees available because the rich coffee traditions of Italy and Vietnam would marry well together. I also looked up and down this street in vain for a coffee house providing egg coffee, coconut coffee, or salt coffee, so Zucca could corner the coffee market if they developed this. The atmosphere was a little warm (not sure if there was AC, but ceiling and wall fans were doing their best to combat the extreme Hue heat). The rock music was not to my taste (Andrea Boccelli would have added more to the atmosphere) but the waitress Chi, who was obliging and attentive in all things, shut it off even without me asking. All in all I can recommend Zucca. Excellent pasta, a generous portion of spring rolls, a delicious complimentary passion-fruit, attentive service and good...
Read moreI recently dined at Zucca Restaurant, and it was a superb experience from start to finish. The ambiance was cozy and welcoming, perfect for a relaxed evening out. The menu offered a delightful array of dishes, each bursting with flavor and beautifully presented. I was particularly impressed with the freshness of the ingredients and the creativity in each dish.
A special mention goes to our waitress, Yen, who made our visit truly memorable. Yen was attentive, friendly, and incredibly knowledgeable about the menu. Her recommendations were spot-on, and she went above and beyond to ensure we had an excellent dining experience. Her warm and genuine service added a personal touch that made the evening even more enjoyable.
Overall, Zucca Restaurant exceeded all expectations, and I highly recommend it for anyone looking for a fantastic dining experience. Kudos to the entire team, especially Yen, for making our visit...
