The main problem with this hotel is that almost every feature listed on Agoda is unavailable, and only listed to persuade guests to pay for more expensive rooms. After being given a room with almost none of the features we pre-booked and paid for on Agoda, the staff did absolutely nothing to rectify their mistake until Agoda intervened, and they offered us one night's complimentary accommodation. We then proceeded to stay for several more nights, moving into several different rooms until we were finally offered the room we had originally paid for (which, despite having been clearly vacant for some time, we were continually informed was unavailable). Our stay in three different types of rooms confirmed that their Jurassic-era television sets (which barely picked up a signal) were hardly 'satellite' or cable; there are NO 'in-house movies' in the entire hotel; none of the rooms feature desks, kitchenettes or hair dryers; and the wifi was, at best, intermittent.||While it became apparent to us during our stay that all budget hotels in Hue compete with each other via deceptive advertising, this particular aspect of the Phong Nha seriously compromised our enjoyment of the city. Considering that it is very clean, spacious and in a good location, all the owners need to do to compete with other hotels is honestly convey which facilities they actually offer. If they were more genuine and provided customers with what they paid for, their guests would have a far more enjoyable experience of Hue and likely offer them a higher rating on sites such as these, negating their requirement to upload...
Read moreAbout a week ago, I arrived at the airport in Hue and took a bus into the city, having been dropped off right before the roundabout in Ha Noi. I just wandered around looking for a hotel with a room available. I stumbled upon Phong Nha and the staff were very welcoming. Though the hallway was a bit dark in the middle of the day, the double room I booked was very spacious. It seemed old, but still very clean and tidy. The atmosphere felt very much like a homestay and it was a very pleasant, quiet neighborhood. Though not near as near to the Citadel as I'd like, the staff helped me get a taxi for about 30,000VND ($1.50) and another taxi in the morning for about the same price to the Hue Railway Station. The older gentleman at check-out, tried to figure out the card machine, telling me after a few minutes he didn't know how to operate it, understanding, I chuckled a bit and just opted in paying by cash. I wish I could have stayed longer in Hue to explore the tombs, next time I will definitely come back and stay...
Read moreWe booked one night at $10.45 with breakfast through Agoda and ended up staying 2 extra nights, this was likely the best value for money hotel during our trip in Southeast Asia. This of course comes with a price and that is the slightly pushy attitude to make us book tours with them, buses, bikes, you name it. Having said that, the hotel is good, the rooms are very spacious with a balcony and a big bathroom. The room was clean every day with a change of towels and linen and the breakfast was excellent with even delicious pancakes with banana and chocolate. We arrived very early after a night bus and were checked in and in our room before 9 am with no extra charge. In our opinion this hotel is seriously undercharging, they could easily put it up to $16-$20 and that way relax a bit on the tour talk while we're trying to...
