I came here cause it was the only hostel in the ”HostelWorld” platform and because apparently was cheap (4AUD = 63.000VND). I called the day before for reserve my bed in a dorm and when I checked in I had to pay 120.000VND “cause breakfast is included”. It was 6 AM and I didn’t want to argue. The hostel is a little bit far from the city centre but still in a good position, with a couple of supermarkets on the other side of the bridge. My dorm was nice and clean but no curtains for privacy, no safety deposit boxes and a private bathroom to share in 6 guests. Breakfast was nothing special. You can choose between Bread and eggs, bread with butter and jam or Vietnamese noodles soups. Don’t worth it and overpriced.
I booked day-trip trekking in the near villages for 350.000VND. We supposed to start the tour at 9 AM and to finish between 4-5 PM. We started at 10.30 AM, we had a brief walk then we had lunch in a Homestay. We literally waited almost an hour doing nothing, at least the lunch was good. We had another walk around villages but our guide spoke poor English and he didn’t give us any interesting information about villages, habitats, habits, traditions and culture. Very poor and bad explanations. As long as the tour lasted, we’ve been followed by women of the villages and their kids. They tried so hard to sell us anything, it has been exhausting. The tour ended at 3 PM and the minivan left us in Sa Pa city centre, almost 2km away from the hostel. I said all of that to the owner and he was really sorry. I understand you’re sorry but if you provide a bad experience you should give a discount on something else to balance your issues. It’s called “Customer Service”.
I booked with them my sleeping bus for Hà Giang and I asked for the cheapest price. I had to pay in cash because the pay-machine wasn’t working. They told me that all the sleeping buses costs 250.000VND and there’s nothing cheaper cause there’s only “luxury buses”. working. Well, the bus was old and smelly. People were crowded everywhere and slept on each other, a nightmare. At least, they give us a ticket for spending the night (from 4 to 8 PM) in a Homestay in Hà Giang.
Two stars are even too much. I felt mocked multiply times. I wish you good work. You need to improve your services, there is...
Read moreWe had a great stay on this hostel. We took the family room. The room is big with two double size beds. The beds are comfortable so as the pillows. Linen and pillows are clean although they only provide 2 pillows per bed. The ac doesnt work well but its fine since Sapa is technically a cold place. Toilet is clean and big with hot water option. Also the wc has bidet which is great. They provide toiletries e.g. shampo, soap, toothbrush and comb also a bottled water, instant coffee and tea.
The Hotel has a good location. 6 minute walk to Sapa market and bus terminal (bus going to hanoi and Lao Cai train station). 5 min. walk to sleeper bus station. 13 min. walk to Sun plaza. The hotel is right besides the lagoon where you can enjoy an early morning jog.
The owner Flaco is very accomodating and friendly, speaks english well. He helps us alot when we have questions.
This is a cheap and old hotel so dont expect a 4star accomodation. But we enjoyed our stay here. Probably be back again. And the resident cat...
Read moreRead moreThe room was very tiny (we booked the deluxe suite) and the photos in the internet are VERY flattering! Maybe some rooms are nice, but the 205 isn’t it! Landmark view means you get a window outside. It does NOT mean Mountain View! Our “landmark view” was the leaky roof of the neighborhood. Be careful: there are rooms without windows to the outside! It was very noisy and the water heater was broken, because someone used it to boil noodles. The Shower has no separate wet cell, which basically means that everything is always damp and wet unless you leave the (very weak) air conditioning running—which you do not want to do, because your key enables it and you would have to stay in the room with the dirty walls for more time than you want to. We requested a room change and the very nice personnel kept saying sorry and couldn’t help us. When the language barrier was broken by the google translator, they replaced the water heater and gave us a second blanket. Thank you! Summary: take a different room or...
