im guide in vietnam I guided a lot of teams from Sapa. But take it as advice. You should avoid the top of the mountain in the morning. Hot air goes up in the morning and hot air goes down at lunch. I recommend between 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. Even if it rains, you can see a great view if you are lucky. But I don't recommend it if the schedule is not busy. A minority guide is worth a try, but you cannot be free from all kinds of bugs and germs. The animals and plants that live in Sapa have endured more trials than you thought.
