Our recent trekking tour in Sapa was an experience that we will cherish for a long time. From the moment we embarked on our journey to the last step of our trek, everything was wonderfully orchestrated and thoroughly enjoyable.
One of the highlights of our trip was undoubtedly our tour guide, Xu. From the outset, Xu’s enthusiasm and knowledge shone through. She was incredibly talkative in the best way possible, engaging us with fascinating stories about the local culture, history, and the beautiful surroundings we were exploring. Xu’s deep understanding of the area and her infectious passion for her homeland added a rich layer to our trekking experience.
Xu’s helpfulness was another standout aspect of our trip. Whether we were navigating challenging paths or curious about a particular plant or animal, Xu was always ready to assist and share her expertise. Her guidance made us feel safe and well-cared for throughout the trek. Xu’s skill in handling the trek was evident; she knew exactly what she was doing, and her confidence helped us tackle the trek with ease.
The homestay where we spent the night was another delightful part of our trip. It provided a cozy, welcoming atmosphere that was perfect for relaxing after a day of trekking. The accommodations were comfortable, clean. The hosts were warm and hospitable.
One of the things we appreciated most about this trekking tour was the smoothness of the entire experience. We encountered almost no difficulties during our trek.
The trek itself was breathtaking. Sapa’s landscapes are nothing short of spectacular, with terraced rice fields, lush valleys, and towering mountains creating a stunning backdrop for our journey. Xu’s frequent stops to explain the significance of different sights and answer our questions made the experience even more enriching.
Overall, our trekking tour in Sapa was an incredibly joyful and memorable adventure. Xu’s exceptional guiding, the comfortable homestay, and the seamless organization of the tour all contributed to a fantastic experience. We returned home with beautiful memories, a deeper appreciation for Sapa’s culture and landscapes, and a desire to return...
Read moreWe didn’t plan ahead and booked our one-day tour at 10am. The booking office was very accommodating and got us a guide for 30m later, after most tours had already departed.
Sang, our guide, was amazing. She took us trekking down the valley at a comfortable pace, allowing enough time to take breaks and snatch some pictures.
The views were great and so was the food: we had a first stop where we snacked on fresh, sweet cane sugar that was honestly delicious, and an hour or so of trekking later we were treated to some of the tastiest and most authentic food that we’ve had in our entire time in Vietnam. The included lunch provided generous portions of rice, chicken, pork, tofu, vegetables, spring rolls and mandarins, most if not all locally sourced, a few feet from where we were.
However, personally, what made the trip memorable was Sang’s willingness and heartwarming openness to share knowledge and insight into the life of the peoples of the region. Coming from the Hmong tribe, one of the several in the valley, she answered all our questions about the culture, customs and traditions. We learned about the lengthy process of how they make the fabric from the hemp plants, or how they create indigo to dye the clothes. At one point, after my friend mentioned the mosquito bites, Sang picked up a common herb that grows around the village, mashed it and rubbed it on the blisters, which seem to have eased the itching and the swelling (she also gave him some more so he could apply it again later that night).
Animals roam free in the village and there is a sense of respect for nature that it’s becoming so rare to find in western societies. I ended the trip with the feeling that I had been privileged with a glimpse into an arduous but honest life that gives so much - to us tourists, to the community, to the earth - while asking for very little in return.
Take appropriate trekking shoes and comfortable clothing, a hat and sunscreen, maybe some repellent, and some money in case you want to buy some handcrafted items that the villagers sell and you will...
Read moreWe found Trekking Tour Sapa through Google search and after reading positive reviews as well as after watching their Youtube videos, we gave it a shot. Before we confirmed our booking, we asked quite a number of questions pertaining directions, itinerary, transportation, etc which they replied promptly and patiently which is very helpful and we felt their sincerity although we have some language barriers. The booking was easy and steps for direction to their office was clear and precise. We were welcome warmthly upon arriving at their office and was assigned Tung who is a from Hmong ethnic minority in Sapa to be our guide throughout 4D3N trekking tour. To our surprised, she can speak quite good English which makes it easier for communication. Throughout the few days, she shares about Sapa natives cultures, locals ways of living, became our translater to communicate with the locals. She is very friendly and cheerful which makes our experience fun and enjoyable. She knows the route well which I believed non-locals will knows the way through the small routes through the paddy fields pathways, the shortcuts, longcuts, through the nature and not. In fact, each time she will proposed alternative ways based on our capabilities. Its great to have a guide like Tung who knows Sapa so well and indeed trekking is the best way to know Sapa and enjoy the beutiful landscape. The homestay was a great experience, the friendly and hospitable host and homecook vietnamese cuisine made it even unforgettable. Tung really took care of us well, walk according to our l pace and even offer to carry my backpack when I was not feeling well for 2 days. I really appreciate what she did and thankful for her hospitality. Overall, it was a great experience and I highly recommend trekking with Trekking Tour Sapa.
