Puerto Comercial Ushuaia — Local services in Ushuaia

Interesting place to visit and home to vessels on Expeditionary trips to Antarctica. When I visited ‘Octopus’ a mega yacht, formerly owned by the late Paul Allen co-founder of Microsoft, was in harbour. It had been seconded to scientists involved in climate research and monitoring. The town itself was busy and bustling with coaches waiting to take cruise tourists to see local sights. I went on one to the National park and on a narrow gauge railway built by prisoners in the late nineteenth century: an underwhelming trip. The port has a backdrop of peaks some of which were snow capped when I visited in early February . The climate was mild but chilly in the shade so wearing a jacket or pullover is recommended. Eleven barbers in town so good place to have a haircut and avoid the high prices...

Ushuaia is the most southern city of south america. We took a city tour bus, which was interesting and had sime nice picture taking places. Then we had a pleasant stroll of the oceanfront boulevard. Afterwards we had lunch at Casimiri Biguá Parilla Restaurant., which was a big disappointment. The meal we ordered (Parillada mixta for 2) was huge but completely tasteless, if not for the charcoal taste. What a waste. We ate about 1/4 of it, had it packed and gave it to some souvenir...

Not a bad experience. The port itself is big enough and easy to get in and out. Well organized. The only thing that is kind of sad is that have this boards informing the tourist that the "Malvinas" is Argentina's territory. Unfortunately all it dies is bring some laughter from English speaking people. Tourists are visiting on holidays not to learn of others countries...
