On Saturday 30 January my wife and I went to a restaurant that was a little walk away called Yes Please. This restaurant was closing down and could only accept cash and no cards were accepted, but we didn't know this until after we had our meal and we had to pay. So, as we hardly carry any cash on us these days we had to find an ATM. There was no ATM close by so I thought perhaps Dan Murphy's would allow me to draw some cash out if I bought something. Walked in to the store and was greeted by a rather rude Security Guard in the early afternoon. The gentleman on the cash register was a pleasure to deal with, as were the staff in store - very polite and accommodating - helped me to find a non-alcoholic drink, excellent service..... BUT! ...... What a shocking experience I had with the Security Guard posted at the door! I had just purchased a non-alcoholic drink, as I do not drink alcohol, and was on my way out the door when the Security Guard stepped out and blocked my way. He asked me if I had anything in my pockets. He was asking this as he was crouching down in front of me trying to look under my shirt in front of everyone. I told him I had not stolen anything, if that was what he was trying to say and I lifted my shirt up. I was shocked at this, as other people were walking out without being questioned. Why did he target me? Was it how I looked or something?! I WILL NEVER GO BACK TO THIS STORE AS LONG AS THEY POST THAT SECURITY GUARD. WHAT A HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE! DAN MURPHY, ARE YOU GOING TO LET THIS...
Read moreRecently moved and started going to this Dan Murphy's instead of the Sunnybank one. The 1 star is because when I was entering today some security guard asked for my ID. I said "really?" (since I don't look even close to 18) as I pulled it out and casually threw it about 5-10cm into his outstretched hand. (I was just very relaxed, at least until the following happened) It landed in his hand perfectly but when he saw it in his hand he just freaked out, purposefully dropped it and started yelling at me. Some lady who was serving people said to me "mate if you keep doing that you will be removed from the store" to which I replied "sorry" but apparently this warning was a complete lie since the security guard then told me to pick up my ID to which I bent over to do so but before I could reach it he kicked it out of the store and told me I was kicked out. Really? I had said sorry immediately but apparently that isn't good enough. Apparently thesedays softly throwing a passport 5-10cm into someones hands is grounds to treat that person like an undesirable and kick them out. I started heading out to leave while both the lady and the security guard kept trying to escalate the matter completely unnecessarily. Talk about a power trip. I'm no thief and I wasn't looking for trouble. I didn't mean to upset them but they could have at least given me a chance to behave in the strict manner they demanded. The security guards at the Sunnybank store were really cool and friendly and this would have never happened...
Read moreDisgraceful attitude by two staff members at Dan’s Woolloongabba this evening at around 6:30pm However it was delightful to see the manager come over and put this particular pathetic power tripping female staff member in her place. Ironically, all the other ladies are polite, friendly and helpful 😊 9 times out of 10 at almost every other Dan’s, (and this store when she’s not around scaring off valuable customers) the staff are more than happy to price match with their own website prices without the hassle of having to stand their and pre order online while standing right there in que! Her male colleague at the registers nearby also puffed up his chest and tried to be the big man saying no to the customer without even checking the circumstances... He was also put in his place by the manager that handled the situation positively and professionally. Obviously it’s the manager their that understands that customers pay their wages... Not those two...
