Really poor service. The manager Jonathan, unfortunately, was unhelpful and arrogant when complained to about the poor service and poor management. Avoid visiting the place next time.

EDIT: On your response, Being a manager, you are misguiding the public. We will elaborate in detail on the truth below: We were a group of 32 people. There was a shortage of manpower to serve 32 people Few customers were already in the restaurant. Only 2 servers, which included the manager and the other server, were available Injured with plaster in one hand, I helped our team members by serving food plates. Even one of the employees thanked me for it. When asked what will be served with chicken curry. The server said that there was no roti or bread. Instead, dosa will be served. The curry was already served on the table I was again standing in front of the kitchen injured with one hand. The manager ignored me and took the plate of dosas to another table. I didn't say anything and still waited on the table. 14 people were waiting at the table for the dosa. After 25 minutes of waiting without dosa on our table, I called the server to call the manager to raise a complaint. But the manager did not come. He still ignored it. Then, from our team, someone shouted to call the manager. After which he came to the table after 10 minutes. He was standing behind us but decided to ignore us and our grievances. We asked him why the dosa was not served to our table. Getting a fresh dosa or warming up the food was not a concern since the dosa was not served in the first place at all. All of the other members in our group were waiting for 14 of us since they already finished their food and you were talking about getting new dosa when everyone else was done with the food since we all were on a tour and had time constraints. Mr. Jonathan, if you are unable to handle big groups of people, then kindly do not host us in your restaurant. For your kind information, we have traveled all around the world and in many states in Australia too. But we never came across this kind of manager who was disrespectful, arrogant, and demeaning towards customers. When the customer himself had a fractured hand and offered to help out, he still received bad treatment. We have your video recording of where food was not served and present on our table, etc, and as you mentioned in your reply, "Safe travels back to India." Are you trying to threaten us? If any threat is towards my group of 32 members, including families and children, then I will be obligated to approach the Honorable Minister for Foreign Affairs (Australia) - Penny Wong. There has been a history of bad reviews like a) Jyoti Prakash Padhy posted a month ago b) K M posted three months ago c) Sai Narra posted four months ago d) Sandeep Singh posted four months ago e) Prashant Singh posted one month ago f) Khubaib posted 3 weeks ago There are many more poor reviews.

Is the owner aware of these activities? Who is the owner?

  1. We are tourists. Kindly do not mistreat us. Our country Australia is a very good country. Even the people are polite, but people like you have spoiled this wonderful experience that we were...

I am absolutely horrified with how my family and I were treated after a shocking incident at this restaurant. We went in, all keen for our favourite meals, only for my daughter to find a sharp, glass-like object in her milkshake. She thought it was a sprinkle, innocently chewed on it, and thankfully realised in time to spit it out. Upon closer inspection, we saw it was a dangerously sharp piece of glass.

We told the staff straight away, and the owner “investigated” and claimed it was from a broken blender. She even showed us the blender, which did nothing to calm our nerves. I told her how terrifying this was and how serious it could’ve been if my daughter had swallowed it, and she just walked off angrily saying, “This is why I’m apologising.” Are you kidding me? That was the most dismissive apology I’ve ever received.

So, I went to the counter, hoping for a more genuine response, but instead, I got the most laughable excuse: “I have three kids myself.” How on earth does that make any of this okay?

Then, a few minutes later, her daughter comes up to us, cuts me off mid-sentence, and says her mum was in a rush to talk to the chef. Funny, I thought the chef already knew since he was the one who brought the blender over in the first place. She then says, “We’re not going to charge you for anything,” as if that’s going to make everything better. Well, news flash—it doesn’t.

What really gets me is the utter lack of empathy or understanding for how serious this was. Accidents happen, but the way this was handled—dismissive, defensive, and downright rude—was unforgivable. And let’s not forget, this isn’t the first time there’s been issues here, with reports of foreign objects in food and even hair being found. And to top it off, this happened during off-peak hours when the place wasn’t even busy.

In the end, we tried to pay for the entire meal thinking we didn’t need any special treatment, but they refused. I’m just hoping that piece of glass was the only thing in my daughter’s milkshake and not some other hidden hazard.

I’ve never been treated so poorly, especially when something so potentially dangerous happened to my child. I won’t be back, and I’d strongly urge anyone else to think twice before dining here. There’s absolutely no excuse for how we were treated, and it’s clear that customer safety and respect are not a...

I had a very disappointing experience at this place. I arrived a bit early (around 11:45 AM) and sat at a table to wait for them to open at 12. My phone had died, and I needed to charge it to book a taxi. While waiting quietly, a staff member possibly a waiter or kitchen hand approached me and rudely told me I wasn’t allowed to charge my phone and that I needed to leave.

The tone and attitude were completely uncalled for. There was no politeness, no explanation—just an unnecessarily rude approach. If this is the kind of hospitality and attitude they show before the service even starts, I can’t imagine what kind of service or food quality to expect during a meal.

Not welcoming, not professional. I wouldn’t recommend it based on how they treat people.

Updated after restaurant’s response:

Thank you for your response, but I’d like to clarify a few important points.

We arrived at your restaurant and saw an “Open” sign displayed on the door, so we entered—the door was unlocked, and no signage indicated that customers were not allowed inside before 12pm. If the restaurant was truly closed, the door should have been locked, or a clear sign displayed.

Upon entering, we were about to order food when your chef informed us that you open at 12pm, and asked us to come back. We respected that. Since we had a 15-minute wait and our phone battery was nearly dead (we had a flight to catch), we kindly asked if we could wait and charge the phone. Unfortunately, another staff member was unnecessarily rude and refused our polite request, asking us to leave immediately even when we requested just 5 minutes of charging time. We made it clear we were happy to stay and order food once the restaurant opened, but the response we got felt unnecessarily harsh.

This review is not out of “spite”, but simply to express how the situation could have been handled with more understanding and basic human courtesy. Everyone can have a bad day, and maybe this was one, but calling someone’s review “pathetic” for sharing their side of the story is not professional either.

We hope you take this as feedback, not...

Hidden among Canberra's diverse culinary landscape lies a genuine treasure for South Indian cuisine enthusiasts: Dosa Hut. This family-run establishment brings authentic Hyderabadi flavours straight to Australia's capital with impressive attention to detail and tradition. The centrepiece of my recent visit was undoubtedly their showstopping 700 mm Mysore masala dosa - a spectacular creation that extends well beyond the plate. This crispy, golden-brown masterpiece arrives rolled like a scroll and filled with perfectly spiced potato masala, enhanced with the signature red chutney that defines the Mysore variant. The dosa strikes that ideal balance between crisp exterior and soft interior that dosa connoisseurs seek. What makes Dosa Hut stand out is its authenticity. The recipes clearly come from generations of South Indian cooking expertise, with flavour profiles that transport you directly to the streets of Hyderabad. The accompanying chutneys and sambar are carefully prepared with balanced spices rather than overwhelmingly hot - perfect for experiencing the complex flavours of South Indian cuisine. The restaurant's prices are remarkably reasonable, especially considering the generous portions and quality of ingredients. Most dosas are affordable enough for regular visits, with the massive specialty dosas offering excellent value as shareable experiences. The ambience maintains a charming balance of casual dining with thoughtful decor touches that reflect South Indian heritage. While not fancy, the space is comfortable, clean, and well-suited for both family gatherings and casual meals. Service at Dosa Hut deserves special mention - attentive without being intrusive, with staff who can expertly guide newcomers through the menu while accommodating specific preferences from those familiar with the cuisine For anyone seeking genuine South Indian flavours in Canberra - particularly the art of dosa-making - this family-run establishment delivers an experience that honours 🎖 its Hyderabadi roots while making the cuisine accessible to all.

Absolutely disappointed We went there for dinner. The place was fairly busy. I think the girls on the floor were new, didn’t know much about the food, when we wanted to add more to our order they looked surprised and the service was slow. The Food One of the worst indian food i had in Canberra. The tandoori chicken tasted like it came straight after marinating with spices. The table water had rice on the bottom of the bottle, and we already had drank 2 glasses of water (p.s this was when our mains wasnt on the table, so we had no rice dish). This was disgusting. When we went to the counter for the payment, we mentioned about the food, how bad it was and the owner didn’t take any accountability. Never coming back and I don’t recommend this restaurant to anyone 👎 Also on the counter we noticed a sign saying get a free mango lassi with 5 stars google review. Now thats funny. Maybe upgrade your food quality.
