Maiwand Reception Centre — Local services in Melbourne

If I could leave a 0 star review, I would. The management were extremely rude. There were not enough workers available (only a few to serve 145 people). They weren’t accommodating to requests for water, cleaning up spillages and refused to turn up the air conditioning saying it was at maximum already. It was extremely hot throughout the night and they only turned it up once we said people might faint. The bridal room was a disaster, it was extremely messy and needs to be renovated. Old furniture and the toilet was not clean. No place for the bride and groom to eat or even sit properly. We had to put our plates on our laps. No air conditioning. Only a fan. When I asked if there was another fan or a way to cool down the room they said no. Overall, I would strongly advise against hosting any events here. We previously had events at maiwand reception under its old management and they were much better and accommodating in every regard. Deeply disappointed in the service and management. Save yourself the headache and do not book this place. They will just cause you immense stress...

I had my second wedding reception at this venue here recently. To say the least, I was disappointed. The venue is really lovely and clean, however how much one enjoys a venue is dependent on the service the staff provide at said venue. I was not impressed. The staff seemed to be on a different page. The attitude of the guy who was in charge said it all. he was rude, reluctant to adapt to our needs and looked peeved half the night. he refused to admit he forgot that our event was a wedding reception. He also refused to acknowledge that we requested some gluten free options for bridal party members who needed them; we had email correspondence of this. Furthermore, he didn't know how to effectively use his own sound system and fix sound issues with the wireless microphone. We were also meant to be given a space for the parents and bridal party to store a few things on the night, this also didn't happen. They also laid the buffet tables in one area against a wall which took 200 guests an hour to get...

Such rude staff. Wouldn’t listen to a thing we said throughout the night. They walk straight past you when you ask for a plate or a spoon or to clean the safety hazard spills that are all over the dance floor. We ended up cleaning it ourselves - the GUESTS! With a broom since they said they didn’t have a mop in the entire centre! Didn’t listen to how we wanted the room separated - wasn’t flexible to change it afterward saying it was too much work. It really ruined our experience. Rude rude rude is all I can say. Both the workers and the owner. And so stingy as well. Lying that the Aircon is on full blast when we clearly can’t feel any air coming out of the vents. Took them 4 hours to finally turn it on - saving money at the expense of guests comfort (it was 32 degrees). Save yourself the embarrassment and the hassle and go elsewhere.
