I can confidently say it’s a gem for anyone who values fresh produce and variety. The first thing that strikes you is the abundance in the fresh meat and seafood hall. Schwarze Seafoods stands out with its impressive selection of seafood options to satisfy every palate. Their cleaning and filleting service on whole fish purchases is incredibly convenient—my tip? Arrive early to get the best picks! The Peanut Market is another highlight, perfect for bulk buying nuts and grains. Their in-house roasting adds an extra layer of flavor, and their homemade cookies are simply delicious—a must-try if you're visiting! For all your spice, oil, and grocery needs, Spice & Grocery (the sister shop) has everything covered. After shopping, the food hall offers a fantastic array of snacks suitable for all taste buds; it's a great way to recharge after exploring. The massive fresh fruit and vegetable section showcases quality products at competitive prices—whether you're looking for small quantities or bulk buy specials, there’s something for everyone. Additionally, the Bazaar features specialty stores ranging from clothing to homewares and jewelry, making it easy to find unique items while you shop. Accessibility is also excellent here; ample parking makes navigating through the market hassle-free. Overall, this market provides not just groceries but an enjoyable shopping experience filled with freshness and variety. Highly recommended!

I still love Dandenong Market, always have come here since as kids. Dandenong Market is one of Melbourne’s oldest market, traditional in 1866, and is one of Australia’s mammoth, with over 200 market traders spread over 8000 square metres. The earliest market day was Tuesday, 10th October 1866. An untimely advertisement stated that for sale would be: "A choice lot of dairy cows, with calves; heifers springing, 50 head store cattle, a quantity of useful horses, fat and store pigs, well-bread rams, poultry, potatoes, and other produce; drays, spring-cart and farming implements, &c." It also noted "Lunch will be provided.ā€ At earliest held fortnightly, the market was soon a weekly event. By 1870, the market had up to 300 vendors and buyers in attendance. Auctioneers sold livestock, fruit, dairy products, skins, lard, honey, hay and other farm produce. Farmers from throughout the La Trobe Valley and Gippsland travelled to Dandenong to buy and sell. One Gippsland farmer later recalled the trouble of travelling by road. 'After some years, we commenced carting our butter, eggs and bacon to the Dandenong market. The roads were still very bad; the journey always took three strenuous days.' Market is also known for popular events and festivals, including Dandenong World Fare which attracts over 35,000 visitors, the Full Moon festival and Diwali. Danhthemanadventure

It’s a great variety of specials and money saving if you are close. Especially seafood for great prices! There is so much hear with so many vendors looking to grab your business. I was referred here by a friend due to the farming produce(fruit and veg), meat selections and the prices for both. The market, was not only cheaper than the local supermarket both in veggies and meat; the customer service was outstanding. Please note there are many cheap clothes/shoe stores, mobile accessories stores, etc. amongst so many other stores, you could easily loose a couple of hours shopping here with delight! The two negatives are- that there is a price minimum for certain stores when it comes to eftpos/cc transactions. However, if you find a select butcher or grocer this shouldn’t be a problem; but would be good to have at least $40-$70 dollars cash if you want to grab little bits and pieces from many vendors. You might need more if shopping for most other things - but you could score a good deal as-well. is that there is only one poultry butcher, and while the chicken is good - they are massively expensive considering your local supermarket - I wouldn’t recommend shopping for chicken here. P.S. - there is a great little ethic food court to indulge in many tastes from around the world - doesn’t have everything but there is a good selection of vendors. Overall, this is a great shopping place, to spend a couple of hours between a good lunch. ...
