A wonderful way to see the best of Rottnest islands marine life! We saw lots of strong rays, an octopus, pink and blue corals, a huge variety of fish or all sizes. There are fish in droves that like to play in your flipper bubbles!
We took the 9am ferry to the main jetty and from there itâs a quick walk to the fuel jetty that you can see across the water, look for the boat with the blue Rottnest snorkel flags! Itâs a lovely boat with easy access from the jetty and the staff are there to make sure you donât stack it. Onboard thereâs a aircon section inside the boat and an outer section below and up top on the boat to sit and feel the breeze. Plenty of drinks (including sparkling water for us sparkling water snobs lol) and delicious fresh fruit and if I am right Brandon the Captain or skipper, (I canât remember the boat lingo) made homemade sausage rolls that the entire group gobbled up.
Fitting gear was easy and pain free and any issues they will swap the gear over, the guides even take a spare mask out if you need to swap out in the water. The guides were wonderfully conversational and very knowledgeable on the marine life, sea currents, history of Rottnest and made you feel very safe in the water. If you are not a confident swimmer they have noodles you can use to help keep you afloat and they even have these electric hand held scooters that you can hold onto so you can still view the sea life without worrying about swimming ability or fighting the strong currents (let them know at time of booking if you need these aids so they can make sure they have enough). Additionally getting in the water and back on board is a breeze as thereâs this wooden deck that lowers into the water so itâs easy to hop on it.
I would highly reccomend this tour - it ran so smoothly and was so much fun. âşď¸ 10/10 I will no doubt be back as there are so many beautiful snorkeling spots to see at Rottnest!
*Note: I would reccomend if you do go in summer to use Zinc and their wetsuits provided or wear surf leggings as the sun is strong (UV 13) when we went) and I got burnt even reapplying sunscreen. Also if you are prone to blisters like my mate pack some water proof bandages so you donât have anything impact the joy of the water and the...
Read moreRegrettably, I cannot provide a review of the experience as I did not, and likely will not, have the privilege of participating in one of these tours. We booked and paid for this experience at least one week in advance amd we were looking forward to it. It was the only day we could spend at Rottnest Island during our trip to Australia. All these expectations only to receive a CANCELLATION message at 4 PM ON THE DAY BEFORE THE SCHEDULED TOUR because they did NOT REACH MINIMUM NUMBER of participants. While I understand that such situations can occur and it is mentioned during the booking process, what baffles me is the lack of consideration and respect for people's time. Receiving a warning two or three days before about the POSSIBILITY of cancellation due to a low number of bookings would have been greatly appreciated, since it would have given us time to think about a possible alternative. They failed to provide us with enough time to even consider a plausible plan B. Given that it was 4 PM on the day before, one tends to assume that everything is in order. At that time of day, most companies were either closed or closing, leaving us without any alternative. They offered to reschedule the experience the next day but, again, we already had a flight booked. They SAID they promptly started the procedure for refund, but this 5 days after and still nothing. I tried e-mailing them saying that I still haven't recieved the refund and asking how long it would take and they completely ignored me. Just be aware that at Rottnest Snorkeling, consideration for clients' time seems lacking. While unforeseen circumstances can lead to tour cancellations, the abrupt notice provided at 4 PM the day before (not even the decency to give a 24h notice) the scheduled event left us without options. It wasn't about a weather allert, which cannot be completely forseen, but a scenario that could have easily been predicted. This behaviour highlights that you cannot feel secure with them. The fact that it already happened to other people, as I've read in other reviews, makes me even more convinced of this. Keep it in mind if you intend to rely on their "organised"...
Read moreEdited to update: I disputed the transaction with my credit card company and posted this review on Google, TripAdvisor and Rottnest Snorkel's facebook page. Within 24 hours I received an email from the company with an apology for missing my emails and saying they had approved the disputed amount. Received notice the dispute was resolved and purchase price refunded to my credit card the next day, so upgrading from a 1 star to a 3 star review.
I booked a snorkel tour for Friday 4/29/22. Rottnest Snorkel cancelled the day before as they did not meet minimum numbers. They offered to reschedule us to Saturday, but we had another tour booked for that day. I've asked for a refund via email on 4/28 and 5/8, but have heard NOTHING back from them. Their website states: If Rottnest Snorkel cancels a tour due to weather or unforeseen circumstances, then a full refund will be processed within 24hrs of notification of cancelation. As it's been over 2 weeks with no response, I've disputed the transaction via my credit card company. I understand their need to cancel a tour when there aren't enough participants, but Rottnest Snorkel's lack of communication afterward and not refunding our money...
