Lane Cafe Rottnest — Restaurant in Rottnest Island

Friendly, fast, functional. A fair alternative to the bakery across the walkway, with slightly pricier and more limited range. The coffee is decent and outdoor seating good. The crayfish dog was excellent with decent bits of meat in it, and nice spicy sauce (and you would hope so at $24). The cakes also good. The rolls look healthy and I guess they are if you’re calorie counting, as there’s not much substance to them (I had a bacon and egg breakfast roll, which featured maybe the smallest single scrambled egg and a slither of tiny bacon from the skinniest pig). I cannot recommend the lane cafe enough!! From the friendly staff to the wonderful food and flawless coffee - the lane cafe is a must visit when on Rottnest Island! Our favourites were the Lane Special and the Avo Toast. Both of our coffees were brilliant and we received nothing but big smiles and friendly service from every single employee! When we landed on Rottnest Island this was our first stop. Unfortunately, a plumbing failure had knocked-out their coffee making capability. After ~15km of wandering around the island, we returned and....drumroll....the plumbing issue has been resolved and it's all systems GO. Verdict: infinitely better than the bakery opposite.
