My Daughter and I attended on Saturday for the day we got there at 10:30am must say I was not that awed by the Island experience, firstly the catamarang (blue) was rather dirty inside especially with the amount of flies alive and dead on the dirty windowsills. The railings going down from the top were dirty to the touch. My daughter was healthy and came back with COVID.
The Island was full and for the prices you charge you could do a little bit more up keeping. Looking at some of the houses along islands and chalets I would not spend an evening there. The Dome for breakfast which was so busy was extremely busy and the amount we paid the food could have been hot instead of cold.
The buses, hardest seats ever for someone with bulge disc's and the buses too inside were dirty, flies and windows sills filthy. The roads are very narrow. Plenty of blind spots and crests. Many people who felt that they owned the roads so did not keep to the shoulder on their bicycles. Maybe invest in bicycle paths for bikes only. For me personally I fould it rather dangerous for some especially with the carriage attached for kids. Between the bike and bus hardly any space. Not many people can drive cars here so a bicycle should be easy right? Wrong, can't ride bicycles either. Some people waited 50 minutes for a bus and most times buses did not stop. That would not go down well especially with the heat. Not good if you have little kids waiting to.
It took an hour to get from Island 3 back to main area. Our driver John was a bit hard on the bus breaks. But he was good guide, pleasant and funny.
Sorry Rottnest definitely been and seen better. For a facility that is well known you can definitely make improvements. Look at places, e.g. lady Elliott, Hamilton island, lady Musgrave and many more in QLD. Just a tourist voicing my opinion, which I am allowed to have.
It felt as though the whole process of arriving on the Boat, eating, swimming and snorkeling, getting a bus and heading back was very...
Read moreAnother beautiful island to visit for outdoor activities for the whole family. Booked our trip early with the family. It’s a 30 minute ride via ferry. Maps in how to explore the island is readily available at the information centre. Options to take the hop on, hop off bus for a fee. Tickets available at the kiosk near the information office. There are 19 stations to explore. Went to check the Wadjemup lighthouse. Tourist can go up the 155 steps up to the top of the lighthouse. Up to this time, the said lighthouse is still working. Volunteers gives you a guided tour of the lighthouse. From the top you can see the whole island. Restaurants are open to serve the tourists. Random quokkas can be seen in al parts of the island. They also have convenience store. They have nice beaches and cottages. You also had an option to camp, snorkel or just sit near the beach. There’s a church and a nearby museum, too. Worth the trip. Also, you can bike around the island. Bicycles are being rented out to tourists or you can bring your own. A nice place to rest and relax and commune...
Read moreI loved every minute of being on the island and as we toured the island by boat. We were there on one of the very last days of Summer and got to see seals, sea lions, and even a whole pod of dolphins. The weather was perfect and the white sand beaches made for a beautiful vista. This was my first time to Australia and to the Indian Ocean. I loved learning the history of then island on our excursion. The customer service at the shops we went to were Great. Just about anything you want to do is within walking distance or if you would like, you can rent bikes to go all the way around the island. We did not do this as we chose another excursion, but I would highly recommend visiting Rottnest Island if you are a first time visitor to Perth, if you have been there many times, or even if you live...
