This museum is a great stop before you head off to explore the island. The museum delves into the history of the aboriginal people, the islands use during WW2 and even some more modern history regarding the islands use for world championship surfing events.

We met one of the nicest guys here who worked behind the main desk and helped direct us to the bus station which is just a few meters from the museum. He also gave us some extra information about some of the exhibits and was really helpful. The building itself like many of the buildings on Rottnest was also a historical staple and was surrounded by quokka’s which we stopped to get photos with.

Rottnest island is a nice place to spend the time for beach, viewing, biking and exploration. However, the short day time they operate for the day is not enough. The last trip of their bus commences at 3pm, otherwise you can't go back home for ferry. Hence, your only option is to stay in the island for a number of days to enjoy and explore with friends. Its a nice place to take your family. It is a historic place with a sad history behind it. They show a small video of the history behind it. You should definitely visit when you go to rottnest island. Remember in the back room there will be two drawers that you can open to see cool stuff.
