Funky little cafe on Rokeby Rd opposite the old Subi Markets. There’s seating inside and depending on your mood. We were there for breakfast and it was our first visit. There’s are really good range of options but being creatures of habit we opted for the Full Breakfast. The coffee was really nice and had lovely flavour. No orders taken st the table, so it’s line up and pay up front. The breakfast did take awhile to come out but the place was reasonably busy. It was huge. It looked really nice and everything was cooked really well. The poached eggs were perfectly done. I don’t eat mushrooms but my friend said they were great cause they were chunky and not tiny mushrooms. The chorizo had a great bite to it. It came with heaps of potato gems but it would have been nice to have a home made hash brown or Rosti. The staff were really friendly. I liked it a lot and will be back. In hindsight I would have parked under the Coles on Station St which has 3 hours free parking. It’s only a couple of minute walk to Rokeby Rd. I paid $12 to park in City of Subiaco carpark. That is a disgrace. I was there 1 1/2 hours.

Very disappointed. To be honest I should have been expecting poor service from the reviews I have heard about this cafe but hoped for the benefit of the doubt. I was the first customer into the cafe from opening and had ordered the French toast and a Belgium hot chocolate. My drink came out after about 15 minutes (which was very delicious and the only good thing about this cafe). But then other customers had started arriving and placing orders and I started to notice that their orders had come out before my food. Now I wanted to think it was because their orders may have been smaller but I didn’t end up receiving my food until 45mins after I had originally ordered and I noticed about 4 other customers received their food and 2 that had already finished and left before mine arrived. When it had finally arrived the portion size was rather small compared to the price and felt honestly like it was just drowned in Nutella from the store. I will definitely not recommend to others and I do think your staff members may need to work slightly on their customer service.

This is my favourite café in Perth! It’s so cozy and makes a perfect place to study and read. All the staff are so lovely and welcoming and are very knowledgeable about their menu and coffee. Speaking of coffee, they have some interesting options, such as cortado and ice cafe bombon (both spanish). They also offer matcha, tumeric, taro, and chai lattes (just to name a few). The coffee is amazing no matter what you order, though. The food is always interesting (in the best way possible). If you order french toast the most unique and delightful combination of flavours is placed before you, with countless types of fruit, yoghurt, and purée, complete with chocolate artfully smeared on the plate. Even the most mundane food, such as the scrambled eggs I ordered today, were made in such a genius way so they weren’t too mushy (if you like them mushy that’s also an option if you ask!). For what you get, the prices are extremely reasonable. Basically I love this place and want to live here hahaha! 💕

Unfriendly, awkward and uncomfortable, this is how I would describe my experience at the 1982 Cafe on Friday afternoon. Why: I ordered 2 regular coffee’s one flat white with sugar and one with almond and honey as well as a small cream puff. $19.20 in total I was charged and paid in full. However I felt it was a little expensive as I had checked the price board upon arrival which clearly stated Coffee f/w $4.20. The small Cream Puff I ordered had no listing in the menu and no visible pricing from the cabinet in which it came from..I politely asked about the pricing of the bill and was not given any explanation just a copy of the receipt..I honestly had never felt so uncomfortable with the cold, unapproachable attitude towards me as a customer. The receipt reflected $7.50 for the small cream puff, then an extra 80c for each regular size coffee?? I asked for two regular size coffees, they came in a regular mug and was not informed it would be extra..I had no issues with the honey and almond milk being extra…the most questionable extra was the sugar I had asked for in my coffee…80c …?? The table at which I sat had free sugar sachets available. I never wanted a refund and didn’t ask for anything other than a friendly honest service a fresh coffee and cake, The coffee and cake were not fresh…awkward, unfriendly and...

3 of us plus a young child went on a Saturday mid morning for coffee/food. Ordered at the counter and had to explain 3 times that in addition to the long black, we wanted a pot/jug of hot water on the side. Out comes an espresso. We sent it back saying it was meant to be a long black with a jug of hot water on the side. Out comes a long black with a cup of hot water. Back it goes again...we finally got there on the third go. Now to the food - ordered Chilli Crab on French Toast. The menu described "crispy soft shell crab, brioche, cornflake, garlic, onion, fresh chilli, spring onion, coriander, house-made triple spicy sauce". It was a plate of tasteless fried stuff. I think it had been pre-fried then fried again. No flavour at all. The brioche was deep fried in cornflake stuff. The menu did not say the whole dish was deep fried. I expected the brioche to be fresh at least. The dish was overwhelmed with spring onion and there was no coriander. If I wasn't starving and on a time limit I'd have sent it back. We asked the young man waiting tables for some cutlery - he just stared at me blankly. Finally got a knife and fork. Disappointing visit. Came with Subiaco locals and unfortunately none of us will...

1982 Food + Coffee

The customer service and their ability to understand and provide the customer with what they need was absolutely on point.

I visited the place with my family, my husband and my two little daughters, for lunch, and we were immediately welcomed and the waiter got us seated within 2 minutes which was outstanding consider the hectic atmosphere of lunch time. Other than that, the design and decoration of the cafe was very interesting with all sort of eye catching features. My family and I really liked the welcoming vibe that this cafe give.

Despite the noisy and busy environment, we were treated with 100% attention from the serving staff of the restaurant. They knew when we wanted to order our food, and was sufficiently knowledgable of the food they provided to assisted me in deciding a meal for my 2nd daughter who was a very picky eater and also have peanut allergy.

The dishes were well garnished and make the food more appealing which made the meal very enjoyable, even my husband couldn’t hold himself back from taking pictures of his “1982 Brotherhood Burger” which was both amusing and pleasing to see.

Thank you for the meal and I will see you guys again...
