✨ Gyuniki Buffet Sydney – A Symphony of Smoke, Flavor, and Culinary Craftsmanship ✨
Nestled in the heart of Sydney, Gyuniki Buffet offers an experience that transcends the typical idea of dining — a true celebration of Japanese BBQ, where the beauty of fire meets the artistry of flavor, all within the generous embrace of a buffet.
From the moment you step inside, you are welcomed by a warm, inviting ambiance. The restaurant exudes a balance of modern elegance and Japanese minimalism — clean wooden interiors, soft pendant lighting, and the subtle yet intoxicating aroma of charred meats wafting through the air. The sound of sizzling grills, gentle conversation, and laughter forms the perfect backdrop to an evening of indulgence.
🍖 An Endless Feast of Premium Cuts
What sets Gyuniki Buffet apart is not just the abundance but the quality of its offerings. The buffet selection is nothing short of impressive — an endless array of premium meats, fresh seafood, and carefully prepared sides, all waiting to be crafted into perfection on your very own tabletop grill.
The highlight, undoubtedly, is the Wagyu beef — beautifully marbled slices of sirloin, brisket, and short rib, each melting into tender richness the moment it kisses the grill. The fat renders into buttery silk, infusing each bite with an indulgence that lingers. Alongside, the pork belly, beef tongue, and chicken thigh in sweet soy marinade offer a variety of textures and flavors that keep the palate excited.
Seafood lovers are not forgotten. Plump prawns, succulent scallops in shells with garlic butter, and tender calamari bring a refreshing balance to the richness of the meats, especially when paired with a quick sear and a squeeze of lemon.
🥢 Not Just Meat – A Balanced Harmony
Beyond the grill, the buffet includes a generous spread of sides that feel far from an afterthought. Think perfectly steamed Japanese rice, warm, comforting bowls of miso soup, crunchy karaage fried chicken, and fresh edamame. The selection of grilled vegetables — sweet pumpkin slices, juicy mushrooms, and charred eggplant — balances the richness with subtle smokiness and sweetness.
🔥 The Joy of the Grill
Part of the magic lies in the interactive experience. You are not merely eating — you are cooking, creating, and savoring at your own pace. The joy of watching marbled beef sizzle, carefully flipping each slice to achieve the perfect char, and sharing each bite with those around you transforms the meal into something deeply communal and memorable.
💫 Impeccable Service Meets Generous Indulgence
Despite the self-serve nature of a buffet, the staff at Gyuniki elevate the experience with attentive yet unobtrusive service. Plates are cleared swiftly, grills are replaced without needing to ask, and the staff are always ready with a warm smile and helpful guidance on cuts or cooking tips.
🍵 A Sweet Ending
As the evening winds down, a delightful selection of desserts awaits. From creamy matcha and black sesame ice cream to chewy mochi, the finale is light, sweet, and perfectly refreshing — a gentle note that cleanses the palate and ends the meal on a high.

Read more!! TERRIFYING AND UNFORGETTABLE WORST EXPERIENCE 🥲 !!!!
We really enjoyed our first visit to this restaurant, which is why we decided to return for lunch and even recommended it to a family member.
We arrived at exactly 2:38 PM, and the staff welcomed us, explaining that the kitchen would close at 3:00 PM. They informed us that we could take food from the counter, but no additional refills would be available. Understanding this, we got our food and started eating.
Around 3:10–3:15 PM, a staff member informed us that the restaurant would be closing at 3:30 PM. We assumed this meant that service would stop at that time, but that we could still finish our meal before leaving. However, at 3:25 PM, the manager approached us, stating that they were closing at 3:30 and that we needed to finish our meal. While he didn’t explicitly tell us to leave, he stood nearby watching us eat, making us feel rushed and uncomfortable.
This left us confused—if we were expected to leave so soon, why were we allowed to dine in the first place? We fully understand restaurant policies, as we also work in the customer service industry, but this situation was poorly communicated. Instead of offering any consideration—such as allowing us an extra 10–15 minutes to finish our meal due to the miscommunication—the manager simply insisted that we leave immediately.
To make things worse, we were asked to pay a penalty for the leftover food. We weren’t leaving food behind because we wanted to—we were forced to stop eating and leave. This was completely unfair, as we were still enjoying our meal and didn’t want to waste food.
The most disappointing part of the experience was the manager’s attitude. His tone was loud, rude, and unprofessional. When my partner and sister asked him to lower his voice, he continued speaking aggressively, repeatedly stating that he was not there to argue. It was only when my partner raised his voice in response that the manager finally toned down.
We fully understood that the kitchen closed at 3:00 PM, but at no point were we informed that we had to leave the restaurant by 3:30 PM. If this had been made clear from the beginning, we would have planned our time accordingly. It makes no sense to allow customers to dine in under these conditions without properly informing them of the time limit.
Overall, while the food is excellent and the staff was accommodating and friendly during our first visit, this experience was disappointing due to the lack of clear communication and the manager’s unprofessional behavior. A more respectful and considerate approach would have made all...

We enjoyed ourselves as the yakinuki BBQ meats were delicious, and the restaurant had a modern vibe like we were in restaurant in a Japan. However, I feel the quality of the other buffet foods was lower and overall* it wasn’t worth the $88 per person. I’ve had better value for money and experience if you just ordered al-la-carte at a yakinuki restaurant. *Note: it may be better at dinner service when there are more ppl and quicker turnover of food.
THE GOOD: Japanese pop music is played which really adds to the vibe of the restaurant The venue is very clean, spacious overaĺl* and the modern décor including neon strip lighting is great *Note: our table for 4 was fine, but I noted that the width of the 6 person table appears to me that it would be cramped! I like that the meats are in the refrigerated area and you can actually see the meat (rather than a pic on a tablet which may or may not actually represent what you get) and can help yourself to the quantity and selection that you prefer The bbq meats are good quality, tender and tasty. The seafood selection of scallops, squid and praws was also great pn the BBQ. the sushi and sashmi selection is limited but tasty
THE NOT-SO-GOOD: The quality of the ‘fried’ food section under heat lamps is not as good as what you’d expect when ordering on-demand at a yakinuki restaurant. They looked OK and would I suspect would look tasty if I posted a pic of them. But the karage was just OK, It wasn’t crispy (I suspect because it’s sitting there). The tempura prawns tasted Ok and the batter was crispy, bit it had very little prawn in it. I felt like I was mostly eating batter. The Takoyaki just felt gluggy and I didn’t like the flavour. No plain steamed rice available, just sushi rice There were half a dozen items in another section like gyoza, sliced cooked beef in vegs I think. These looked like they had been sitting around for a while and weren’t appealing to me, so I didn’t try any. The mrs tried a slice of cake with the citrus topping and the cake itself was very dry While the type of music is appropriate, it is too loud for a restaurant, and it should be at just a level to provide ambience the first picture on Google (of the reception desk and different food areas) doesn’t actually look like what I experienced, or as good as this Google picture (I felt underwhelmed, I wish I had a taken a pic for...
