Was getting some groceries as I normally do. I have been shopping here about once a week for at least 15 years. Today I went to the counter with my items and a bag with items I'd purchased elsewhere. It was very busy with a long queue of customers and behind the counter was 3 cashiers and 2 or 3 packers. I put my basket on the counter, I said "no bag required" and handed over the bag I had (with the previously bought items). The packer screams out "are these items from here?" I said no they're from Boon (around the corner). They start talking Thai to each other. "Do you have a receipt for these" I said no, because Boon only give a receipt if you ask, and i prefer not to waste paper. She the proceeds to ask again, even louder for all to hear, "where are these from?" Then looked angry like she obviously didnt believe me. Lady, I had 2 x $13 and 3 x $7 items and some greens. If I had intentions to steal anything firstly it would be one of the expensive item and secondly I'm not going to hand you the bag if they were stolen. Not only was she incredibly ruse and abrupt, the whole experience was embarrassing and I was completely offended. Will be shopping elsewhere for my Thai ingredients from now on...unless I...

My Thai language skills are pretty rusty, as I haven't worked in BKK for many years. However, I understood enough of what the staff member was saying into the phone to know that she was simply pretending to talk on the phone.
I called her out on this.
It was really offensive to be followed around the store. I don't believe that I was disheveled in appearance or intoxicated or anything which might garner suspicion. Plus I was the only farang in the store at the time. So how stupid do they think I am, by trying to...
Read moreWe live over 100 kilometers away from Sydney, so every time we go there, it takes a long time to travel. Yesterday, I had a chance to go into the city, and I stopped by a Thai shop because I really wanted to eat sticky rice with durian. It was the night of the 28th, and the sticky rice with durian I bought had an expiry date of the 30th. On the morning of the 29th, when I woke up to eat it, the coconut milk had already turned sour. I was very disappointed and would like to kindly ask the shop to check expiry dates more carefully before selling products.
Went back today and they processed refund and I also got my mango sticky rice (with hope)...
