La chiesa, che sorge lungo Maria Theresien Strasse, è in stile barocco e fu completata nel 1616 su volere di Anna Caterina Gonzaga, vedova dell’arciduca Ferdinando II. In seguito la chiesa subì un grave incendio nel 1620 e fu consacrata al culto cattolico nel 1626, mentre rimaneggiamenti seguirono nel XVII secolo. Pregevole sono l'altare maggiore (1628), opera dello scultore trentino Mattia Carneri; la settecentesca cappella Peregrini, i banchi in legno intarsiato, una insolita cappella bow window sporgente sulla via. Da segnalare anche un’ulteriore ricostruzione dopo i danni della seconda guerra mondiale e la presenza di tombe di illustri personaggi (Anna Caterina Gonzaga e la figlia Maria d’Austria).
