Schokov — Local services in Vienna

I spent Christmas in Vienna and Schokov was recommended to me as one of the best chocolatiers in the city. There is a wonderful range of chocolate in the store, both local, Austrian and other good European brands. Schokov's own chocolates look and taste absolutely stunning and I love the boxes with the handwritten legends on them. I tried the salted caramel in store which was exquisite and purchased two boxes for friends plus a bar to try myself and a small box of Cats' tongues. The recipients of my gifts were delighted and found the chocolates divine as well as very beautiful. I absolutely recommend 100% and will certainly return when I revisit Vienna ... which I hope...

Auf Wunsch des Inhabers schreibe ich gerne eine Rezension zu SchokoV - nicht zu verwechseln mit SchokoV in the City.

SchokoV habe ich im Zuge eines öffentlichen Events vor einigen Jahren kennengelernt. Es handelt sich dabei um ein wirklich sehr kleines Schokoladengeschäft in das gefühlt nicht mehr als 5 Personen (abseits von Corona) hineinpassen.

Die Vielfalt der Produkte ist für ein so kleines Geschäft wirklich sehr groß und es wird sogar jährlich eine neue, eigene, Schokolade gestaltet.

Im Zuge des erwähnten Events und auch ein paar weiterer Besuche habe ich die Eigenkreationen und auch die Pralinen „verkostet“. Die Pralinen sind sehr gut und zeugen von handwerklichen Geschick, während die Schokotafeln (zum Beispiel mit Tannennadeln) kreativ sind.

Auch die Mitarbeiter sind sehr nett und beraten professionell und höflich.

Warum also gebe ich nun, wenn doch alles gut klingt?

Der Grund liegt darin, dass ich das Gefühl hatte, bei einer derartigen Menge an verschiedenen Produkten, dass versucht wird auf kleiner Fläche Unmengen an Produkten anzubieten. Es ist einfach gesagt enorm unübersichtlich und läd nicht gerade zum „verweilen/shoppen“ ein.

Die Eigenkreationen wiederum sind zwar wirklich gut, aber da gibt es, für meinen Geschmack noch „Luft nach oben“. Gerade wenn man zum Beispiel „Zotter“ kennt und damit vergleicht, kennt man hier auch die deutlichen Unterschiede.

Hier komme ich schließlich zu den Preisen, welche durchaus gehoben sind. Es werden sehr gute Produkte angeboten, die jedoch zum Großteil mMn preislich zu hoch angesetzt sind, somal man manches sogar im normalen Supermarkt deutlich günstiger findet.

Alles in allem sollen meine 3 von 5 Sterne keineswegs abwertend verstanden werden, sondern als ein „gut aber es...

Absolutely amazing chocolate. We happened upon this shop while heading back, taking a different road than the main crowd. The place was very welcoming and there were samples available to try various pieces so you knew what the chocolate would taste like (and see if you'd actually like it). It really was good.
