New favourite brunch spot, seriously best menu and cutest vibe @AMBREAKFAST #hamilton #brunchspot #brunch #fyp #bestielunchdate

First: Yes, there is a cafe here, open from 8:30am-3pm, with basic food, such as coffee and sandwiches (they can warm it up for you). It's near the King St. entrance. If you came in from Main St. (civil counters area), you'd have to walk down a long hallway to get there. Second - amenities for lawyers: There are robing rooms for lawyers on the 5th floor, beside the library! Lawyers can borrow a locker key until 5pm. The library doesn't have restricted access and the lawyers lounge is located right beside the library. Printing is available for counsel here (just ask the librarian). The library is large, with a wide assortment of print material and some computers. The lawyers lounge is a relaxing environment with background music (they played jazz while I was here) and lawyers chatting away. Third: The staff and Justices here are kind and patient. The civil counter representative listened to my issues and provided whatever solutions that she could. My motions Justice listened very carefully to one of the self-represented litigants, and let a few of us slide in with quick requests, despite going way past lunch time. The library staff were quite helpful too. Fourth: There are way more food options around the neighbourhood here than at some other courthouses in the GTA. For young ones like me, there are bubble tea shops, just a few minutes down Main Street. Tim Hortons is somewhere around the corner (unfortunately, you'd have to walk outside to get there form the courthouse). The one downside is that not all of the courtrooms are wheelchair accessible. If you're coming in a wheel chair or assistive device, you'll likely need someone to open the door for you if you're trying to enter a court room.

Had a wait time of over an hour and hung up my call. As a lawyer, I believe the services offered at this Courthouse are generally an absolute disservice to the fine residents of Ontario. It is simply unacceptable to hold private corporations to such a high standard when our judicial system offers simply the worst customer service I have ever encountered in any industry.

Many issues with this courthouse

First, you can file small claims or civil in person on paper, don't listen to them when they direct you to file online, they are lazy and lie, they wasted 3 months of my time only to hand me small claims court papers and filed them in person.

Second

Crown office?

The people that answer the phones, work at the desk? Interns, you might get lucky and get one of the young ladies out of 5-7 ppl there who are astute, the rest? Good luck to you.

Don't waste your time leaving a voicemail w the Crown Attys office either, just call and keep calling, left several messages over 4 months, not once called back, had to literally drive down and go to the 4th floor at least 5 times, they don't inform you of disclosure notes from the other party for trial unless you demand them, and for everything you ask or they do wrong? They say hire a lawyer, why would I hire a lawyer when I am seeking a restraining order? You are the prosecutors, not me.

Peace bond court? what a joke, filed against some neighbors who were threatening me, judge asks me in the JP's office, has anyone in that house filed a restraining order against you? If you answer yes I'm assuming they don't allow you to file against them. Well, they let the family that I got served file a claim against me 5 days after they were served papers by police, the best part was when we went to court they crazy people clandestinely went to court police and said "he's here to beat us up" leading the police to follow me around the court unknown to me what happened, I only found out after one of their family members were charged w utter death threats and I received their court disclosure notes alleging I was the bully.

Well for his trial I had a victim impact statement to read and when I showed up for court and got off the elevator, they yelled to court police sitting at the table on the 2nd floor "he's going to beat us up again" I went over and explained they were liars and a minute later 2 cops and the crown atty came and took me away to waste my time talking for 20 mins while the 2 liars finished in court and left the building. He was sentenced to a yrs restraining order, didn't ever get to speak about being a victim, breaking my charter rights as a victim, their response? Oh well, it's done. And guess what? The guy who said he was the head crown atty? He wasn't, found out after asking any times to speak to "Sean" there is no Sean in charge. It's a guy...

Self representing an application for judicial review of an unsubstantiated police complaint was more difficult than trying to understand legaleese. First, my application was dismissed with me being unable to find legal advice or representation. When I attempted to self represent in a request for an extension, court staff put my long motion on a short list, and the justice didn't have time to review the materials.... so I had to find my way from Kitchener to Hamilton yet again. I've been a recipient of ODSP since the altercation with police in the lobby of child services, and my vehicle was impounded while I was incarcerated. The justice did not have consideration of the evidence I've spent years accumulating, and dismissed the application against the Office of the Independent Police Review Director (because the investigative report was conducted by Waterloo Regional Police, and WRPS had not been properly served in the request for extension) I re-filed an application against WPRS, and court staff returned my application citing no right to seek a review of an investigative report conducted by a sergeant.

A separate OIPRD complaint which had been screened out, was served on the OIPRD, and filed in Kitchener court with the manager of accessibility services. I received notice from OIPRD council, that the materials had never arrived in Hamilton. Kitchener assures the materials were sent via Purolator. Hamilton has never responded as to where those materials ended up. No point to re serve and file now as the summary conviction appeal for the charges related to the complaint is being heard this Friday in Kitchener. (based on the officers misrepresentation of direct quotation, and refusal to provide a notice...
