I took my 75 year old father to watch a movie and had purchased 2 tickets for the show and had booked our centre seats athe back as well. When movie started, we went inside the theatre, a group of people were sitting on our seats, I politely showed them my receipts and the booking of the seats . They refused to leave the seat and behaved very disrespectfully and in condensencing ways and told me to leave. I insisted to get my seats, they kept misbehaving with me. After 10 mins of arguing back and forth he started scolding me and told me he wont move and i should sit elsewhere. I left theatre and found a manager (kevin) outside , I explained him that I have booked the seats and the guys are sitting on my seat and the movie had started 25 mins ago and they refuse to move so plz come help me. When Kevin got there, the entire group had already moved from my seats and told Kevin that this girl had confusion, we were not on her seat, her seat is empty. So basically they blamed me in front of the manager. Manager told me to go sit in my seat. I asked the manager that I need compensation because 25 mins of movie has passed, and I had to deal with the hassle of just trying to get my seat and they disrespected me alot. (On a weekday night at that time it was close to 8pm,) Kevin said what do you want me to do kick the boys out? I said no i didnt ask you to do that, but atleast you should something to them. Another man who werent even involved started taking the boys side. This way they had formed toxic patriarchal bond and bro code had kicked in strongly. Kevin told me, you either sit next to them and watch the rest of the movie or you can wait 2 hours and watch the 10 pm show which will end past midnight. I really found his solutions very inconsiderate and unthoughtful because on a weeknight , along with my 75 years old father I couldnt stay in the theatre till past midnight and wait hours and hours when I had done nothing wrong. I told manager the movie is 25 mins in , i missed that time and the story. He started arguing no its only 15 mins of actual movie ,no its only 20 mins of acrual movie that's missed. He started bargaining the time that was missed. He kept dogding the point that I missed a part of the movie and it will be difficult for me to understand the rest of the movie. I had understood by that time that he is being inconsiderate with me and taking care of the patriarchal code, so instead of missing more movie, I just sat there and watched the rest of the movie but couldnt figure out the movie till good 45 mins because I had missed the first 25 mins. And I got migraine headaches from all the back and forth with the misbehaving boys and the manager pampering brocode. I have disability and my father is old and weak, we kept standing for almost 30 mins, going back and forth missed the movie and I got dished and insulted by the group of boys infront of everyone and manager Kevin did not care. There were no consequences for the boys playing politics and misbehaving, instead they got respect from the bystander and support from the manager and got to take out toxicity on me for their pleasure. Manager missed to do his job while taking care of toxic patriarchy. By intentionally sliding it away and neglecting the misbehaviour, the manager gave the message to the group of boys that their this behaviour of disrespect and mistreatment is not only allowed and accepted , but also supported. Worse...

Read moreI have a health condition that requires me to take medication that causes your mouth to dry out too the point it gets hard to speak at times. Beverages were not allowed at all in the theatres and the concessions were closed!. I finally asked an employee that was kind enough to take me to a manager that graciously allowed me to take in a small amount of water to wet my whistle when necessary. I felt like a kid in school asking to get a drink or go to the bathroom! I get the restrictions because not all of us apparently know what self isolating means and/or social distancing!! Knowingly Infected people are still going into emergency rooms that are already severely understaffed, (due to staff now being infected) and over crowded putting everyone at risk. Some 2 and 3 times when there is nothing that can be done at that time. Ultimately It's a virus like many other cold and flu viruses that all fall under the coronavirus umbrella. Please stay home if you're symptomatic until you recover unless it gets serious. Stay home, hydrate, and get lots of rest and see your family Dr. if needed. Nevertheless, we loved the movie along with may be 30 other people who were all checked for full vaccination at the door before entering. We all need to be diligent with our P.P.E. and social distancing until this simmers down. Hang in there everyone, we should see brighter days hopefully in the next 4 to 6 weeks and please follow Health Ontario's recommendations and restrictions. Stay safe, don't panic, be diligent and let's look forward to a better year... this time! Fingers...
