I think the majority of the staff are good. Unfortunately the one single waiter just didn't seem to like his job very much. It was half an hour before kitchen closing(9pm) according to the head waiter to whom I spoke to on the phone before arriving, and yet we were rushed into ordering at 830pm. Then he started arguing with me that I was wrong. He said, "by 9pm everybody will be gone!". I reported the incident with the maitre'd, hopefully that single bad apple will be given a chance to correct his rude behaviour. Aside from that the menu has been significantly downgraded(to more like an upscale Hong Kong cafe restaurant). Food is ordinary and definitely premade as it came faster than a burger from a drive thru. I am sincerely wishing it will restore to its former glory some day. The funny thing was that there were still 3 tables(each with at least 5 diners) around when I was out the door. So I wasn't preventing them from closing on time in any way. That rude waiter cost the restaurant from 5 stars down to 1. One last thing...the menus that we were handed out initially were the most unprofessional awful looking thing I have ever seen. It was letter sized xerox paper in a plastic sleeve that was oily and wrinkly, possibly loaded with germs; you have to see it...
Read moreI eat Dimsum in many places. Their foods are compatible. They are all good Dimsum in Richmond. I went to Red Star in Richmond on Sunday 27 Apr 2025 with my husbandand 2.5 year old toddler. The place is quite cozy, clean and well organized. I am very impressed because they do very good job on keep the washroom without smell. I understand it is not easy.
Beside the good Dimsum dishes, the restaurant is so lucky to have Lily as a customer service. She pays attention to customers. I didn't request anything but she offered me and assisted me whatever I need while we were dine in. I can't speak chinese but she made me happy the whole time that we were there. I am not very good to use all the words. Just want to let the restaurant owner know how lucky to have such a wonderful employee.
Definitely We will bring friends there again.
Thank you for wonderful service I give...
Read moreThe food was delicious. A solid Chinese restaurant. The dishes were plated beautifully. Highlights were the bitter melon with scrambled eggs. The scrambled eggs were creamy and the bitter melon was not bitter at all and the combo paired very well together. The sweet and sour pork had tasty vinegary flavour. The honey garlic spareribs were just the right amount of sticky with nice garlic flavour and the meat was both crisp and juicy. The almond and sesame cookies at the end were superb in flakiness and freshness. The mung bean soup was a sweet finish to the meal.
The Peking duck was also great. Just wish they gave a bit more cucumber slices and green onion to top your pancake with.
The shrimp and squid with snow peas, sweet and sour pineapple duck, and the fried fish were decent as well but more average in taste. A great place for a...
