I can't say I am a royal customer, but I came here more than 15 times with friends and families. I don't mind lining up for 15-20 minutes. The food is not too bad, and in a fair price. From a combo, you got noodle, milk tea, eggs and bread. Its not a bad deal. We always come here for food and no complaints on the price or the waiting time. All good for me.
Until two weeks ago, 3 of us went to ChaKee and ordered different combo. 1 of my friend had diarrhea 30mins right after we finish the meal. Me and other friend seems fine at that moment. When my friend was saying about something wrong with the food, and we telling him we don't think so, because we ate together and we seems fine. We didn't think about anything wrong about the food, since I am not the first time been there and everything is fine in the past. However, in the late afternoon, me and my other friend started to feel dizzy and nauseous, and start vomiting. we have headache too. Next day we have to visit UPCC at Richmond, the doctor advised we suffered food poisoning, then we have to go to Richmond emergency.
7days after, we feel fully recovered now and feel much better. I kind of lying in bed for many days and feel really weak to walk last week. We are unable to go to work for about 4-5days. From xiaohongshu, I did see others have the same issue as we had. They had diarrhea after had the scrambled eggs. Might be we are unlucky, so our symptoms are more obvious than others.
The doctor said its hard to trace which exactly food causing this food poisoning this time. At that day, we order different meals, but the common item we had on that day is scrambled eggs and milk tea from the meal.
If the owner see this review, you may need to double check the eggs supplies and the process to make sure everything is good. Its worth for you to do something. I hope no one will suffer this food poisoning anymore. This is...
Read moreBe prepared to wait and have a backup order if you order from here! Just like many others, tried out this place to see what the hype is all about. Got here at around 2pm on a Saturday, and the line was not that bad, only a few people ahead of me. Was going to order a Satay Beef and Egg Sandwich, but was told by the staff member that it will take around 20 minutes as satay was not yet ready. So, I changed my order to a Ham and Egg Sandwich instead.
I waited 35 minutes for it. (I wonder if the Satay Beef would be a 55-minute wait, then.)
While I was waiting, I overheard the following items reported as being sold out or unavailable for the day: satay beef, pineapple bun, macaroni, chicken wings, iced milk tea (!), iced/cold water (?), and the option to have drinks made less sweet (because the less sweet batch is sold out).
So, about the actual food, it was pretty good. The eggs were smooth and creamy. The milk tea is typical HK-style fare. Nothing too special.
Is this place worth the wait or hype? To me, not really. If I pre-order and go roam the mall first and come back to pick up, then I’ll consider coming back… but there is actually nothing in the mall (President Plaza) to do. So, probably won’t be back.
Therefore, if you are already in the area and have 45 minutes to spare (an hour plus during peak time), then perhaps give it a try. Also, the food court itself is not the most clean or inviting, and there is very limited seating. So, I would suggest getting your order to go if you do...
Read moreWe came on a Saturday, around 10 minutes before opening and the line was right before the turn to the hallway that leads to the bathroom. As we lined up the line hit all the way to the bathroom. Once they opened we were able to order within 10 minutes (pretty fast considering there were around 10 people in front of us).
We waited around 15-20 minutes for our food. We ordered the scrambled egg sandwich and the satay beef macaroni with toast and egg set. The satay beef macaroni was not bad. The beef wasn't very tender but the flavour was okay. Not too strong. Lots of macaroni. The egg in the set with toast and the egg in the scrambled egg sandwich is essentially the same. Potentially not as thick but the taste is the same.
The previous reviews were not exaggerating the scrambled eggs are delicious. So thick and creamy. Very soft fluffy and runny. Nicely salted. But the scrambled egg sandwich was a bit too much for me. There was a bit too much egg making the bread of the sandwich heavy and soggy fast. I think with a thicker bread that could hold the egg better would have made the whole experience better.
The milk tea was a miss. Between the 3 of us we couldn't even finish the cup. It had tea flavour but wasn't smooth enough.
Overall the service was efficient and friendly enough for a food court. Food wise I would only recommend getting the...
