I've been their customer since 2014 and i dont think twice where to go if i need a career advice and/or help with job search. My agent is Irena Qatipi. To make an appointment is easy: reception and/or Irena is always polite and tries their best to give the timing that fits best my schedule. I like the facility itself: conveniently located, well equipped, the cabinet is pretty convenient e.g. good sound insulation so the conversation is private and you are not disturbed by noises from outside, the chair is comfortable enough to be seated for a 90 minutes. Never waited for more than 5 minutes for the appointment to begin. They are punctual and value their clients time. Irena has been doing a great job to help me om my career path: a. Impressive knowledge on how job market works from candidate/HR/Hiring manager standpoints; b. she can hear your story, analyse and identify the areas where the accents are to be made to improve job search strategy. If there is a training that would be useful she will let you know or explain why the particular training would not be profitable based on your individual situation. c. Being a certified coach she knows how to connect with the customer so you both work with the same direction in the most efficient way. d. always polite, attentive to the details and positive. Job search is somewhat depressing experience sometimes and having an expert who supports and encourages you is a...
Read moreJVS was invaluable to me!
When you consider that I had been out of work for the better part of 3 years (due to a layoff from my previous job), I had lost both my parents over that same time, and I was a man in his mid-fifties, I had, to say the least, some serious barriers to finding employment. Add to that, my self-confidence was in the toilet and I was completely unsure of what to do with myself next.
Thank goodness I found an excellent Employment Counsellor in Joanna Plazuk and had the rest of the JVS team there to support me.
Joanna gave me the opportunity to explore my options, she helped me to work past my own perceived obstacles to employment, she offered me direction, involved me in a career exploration program (which, by the way, I totally recommend. It was vital and tremendously helpful in showing me the right direction) and she connected me (with Job Developer, Julia Poletto’s help) to the job fair where I was able to meet the people at Apple and start the process of securing employment.
All of these steps were well thought out, logical and proved to build up my self-confidence again.
Although it might sound cliché, all these efforts actually provided me with a new lease on life. For that, I will be forever grateful to Joanna and everyone at JVS!
Thank you so...
Read moreVery lazy and incompetent staff spending two months to add three/four lines on the resume. That's all they did AND be aware this is their staff culture. My advisor liked to gossip about my personal stories and ask private questions which they are not supposed to. Even after I politely refused to tell them and the question was brought up again and again. I found these advisors' qualifications are not good enough to educate/serve job-seekers who have gone to college or with higher education background. They have POOR ETHICS-they split meetings throughout two-months period(or longer) so that they get paid based on more meetings just asking the same questions over and over again(even if they could finish in two meetings in total). Might be a good place for people who has never gone to school but be prepared for their super low efficiency as they are going to calculate how to get more meetings. So sad. When can government agencies start to hire right people who maintain a high ethical standard...
