Horrible experience The first is that the chair with multiple seats on the side is very problematic. Sitting on the chair, the knee will be pushed by the table, that is, the height of the chair is too high, and the height of the table is too short, and it is uncomfortable to even put the legs in. The second point is the hygiene level of the restaurant. After we sat down, the table was not cleaned, and even the tableware had oil stains. Although this is a common problem in many restaurants, it should not be a restaurant that has just started business. First impression would be bad, and that leads to the third point The third point is the service attitude of the restaurant. The service of the reception and the front desk is normal, but the service attitude of the waiters after arriving at the table is uneven. After we sat down, we found that the table was not cleaned, the cups and bowls had obvious stains, the waiter was very casual when we asked for a change, and took the bowls away without saying a word, as if it was a hygiene issue. Very normal and common in this restaurant, very careless. The fourth point is the most intolerable point, that is, the roast duck has to wait for an hour, and it needs to be booked an hour in advance. This information is not given on the restaurant's signboard, so the restaurant has completely lost customers who drop in, as well as customers who visit the store or come for the first time, because there is no way to know about it except for arcing and inquiries. Meals need to be ordered an hour in advance before eating, so this design is very stupid and does not meet the common sense of the catering industry. Because there are many ways to tell customers to make an appointment one hour in advance, such as writing this information in the store name of the online information, or writing it on the sign outside the store, so that passing customers can understand this information before choosing to eat, Or other methods can be used to improve the quality of the duck and shorten the production time, but this store has not taken both measures, which is very disappointing. To be honest, 5 of my friends and I were preparing for dinner that day, or we passed by this shop before, so I decided to find out, and even before visiting, I called to inquire about whether it was open, and was told that it was indeed open, so I went to eat, and the result was Extremely uncomfortable, and I had to wait an hour for ducks, this information even when I called, the staff on the line could tell me that I needed to make an appointment in advance, but they didn't tell me similar information on the phone, which caused me to When I arrived, I found out that I had to wait for an hour. I didn't understand. I already called. Why didn't you take the opportunity to tell me to...

Arrived at 5:30pm with a reservation. The restaurant was still quiet when we arrived, probably only 2-3 tables and the the rest were empty. We had 5 people but we were asked to sit at a 4 people table, adding an extra seat on the side. When we asked if we could possibly sit at bigger table, the manager told us all bigger tables were booked.
We ordered 8 dishes in total, all of the dishes arrived quickly within 15 mins of ordering, which was great, except our table was not big enough for all the dishes. The waitresses tried moving and stacking dishes best they could, but still unable to fit everything on the table. To our surprise, instead of bringing over a smaller table to expand space, or offer to bringing the dishes back to the kitchen and serve later, the waitress then removed two dishes from the table, and put them on a "tea servicing table" behind us.
The waitress told us once there's space on the table they will move it back. We told the waitress but this means the two dishes will get cold, and possibly get contaminated since they were sitting at a high traffic place. Unbelievably, the waitress said "what else do you want me to do? The table doesn't have enough space."
The manager came over again and attempted to apologize for the situation without offering a solution. We told the manager then we would like to return the two dishes, since we wouldn't want to eat them if they are sitting at a tea servicing table, and getting dusty and cold. The manager then finally asked her staff to bring over another table to extend our table. The waitresses complained along the way, we heard them commenting a few times how heavy the table was, and how unreasonable we were.
At this point we just thought we'll quickly finish and leave. I guess when it rains it pours, my husband then found a piece of broken glasses in one of the dishes......We brought it to the manager's attention, and she offered us 20% off the bill...honestly at that point we just wanted to leave and didn't want to say anything else. So we quickly paid, and left the restaurant without finishing our meal.
It's our first time trying this restaurant but...
Read moreStopped by for the Peking Duck, which we'd heard was done traditionally and by specially trained chefs. We ordered the Roast Peking Duck, Shanghai Sliced Noodles, Soup Dumplings, Duck Dumplings, and Pork Intestines with Sauerkraut. Overall, the food was good, and priced reasonably for the portions. Everything we ordered was very tasty, although definitely on the oily and salty side. Drank a lot of tea and water, which was a bit of an issue as the staff was clearly stretched super thin and it was a little challenging to get refills. The restaurant was heavy on the old-fashioned design, with old school chairs, tables, lanterns, the works. There were also some very nice private booths, definitely a fancier chinese restaurant aesthetics-wise!
The Peking Duck was as good as we were hoping, and the chefs were really impressive. They brought the whole duck to us and carved it table-side, definitely very impressive to watch! The skin and meat was sliced and presented as multiple courses, and then we were given the option to take the duck carcass home, definitely very much worth the cost of the dish! The meat was perfectly cooked and the highlight of our meal for sure. The Shanghai Slice Noodles, Soup Dumplings (XLB), and Duck Dumplings were all fairly standard, nothing super special but basically adequate. One issue we had with the XLB was that it was quite dry for something that should be soupy... not something we'd be likely to order from here again given that there are so many other excellent sources for XLB in Vancouver. The Duck Dumplings also weren't as distinctly duck-flavoured as we were expecting, so again, adequate but nothing special. Pork Intestines are always a bit of a gamble, and happily this time it paid off, they were clearly cleaned properly, so there wasn't any weird offputting flavour in the dish. The "special sauce" was nicely savoury and went well with the intestines and pickled vegetables, would definitely order...
