Owner refused to honor my gift certificate claiming that it had expired because several years had past. The law in Quebec clearly states that there is no expiry on gift certificates, and the owner was ignorant and clearly acted in violation of the law.
This was exacerbated by the fact that it occurred on Christmas Eve, in front of my wife and kids (who gifted me the certificate) and after we had to wait 1+ hours for our appointments to begin. Very unpleasant experience.
The owner argued with me over the phone in his salon for 10 minutes causing a scene, made a bunch of excuses. He was resistant and unwilling to come to a solution. ON CHRISTMAS EVE OF ALL DAYS!!!!! What a Grinch!
If I could give this salon negative stars I would. I recommend that people find a honourable salon that doesn't blatantly violate the law and cares about its customer base.
I recommend avoiding this salon at all costs, lots of better options in the area
RESPONSE TO OWNER: Based on the owners response to my review It's evident, and transparent to that the salon is unable to take any accountability.
The law in Quebec clearly states that there is no expiration on gift certificates. When you purchase a company you are responsible for the previous owners debts and obligations. You refused to honor your obligation under Quebec law as a business owner.
We called 24 hrs in advance and made a appointment for 4 individuals and informed you that we would be 2 adults and 2 children including the types of services.
As a matter of principle I followed up with a courtesy call to calmly give you an opportunity to do what's right and honour the gift certificate, as its in my rights to directly filling a small claims with the Office de la protection du consommateur.
The only drama is of the owners creation. A consumer standing up for there rights under the law...
Read moreI went in for a regular manicure with my mom the other day. We both had a gift certificate. When we entered and gave our gift certificate they brought us to a table where both of our technicians did not care to greet us. They began right away and would grab our hands and fingers without notifying us about what they were doing. They did not speak to us to ask us basic things such as if the water was an alright temperature, if we were comfortable, etc. Midway through, my technician got up and went to serve someone else without even speaking a word to me. My mother’s technician had to finish both of our manicures for us. We were then left to dry our nails and no one returned to let us know that we can leave. As we left, they did not acknowledge our departures. One of the technicians who had not even served us told us goodbye and thank you. My mom and I are not picky. We do not get manicures very often but have still gone to many different places in the past. I was not expecting to have a lengthy conversation with the technician, but our comfort was not at all regarded. This is a customer oriented service and I was not pleased.
When it came to the actual manicure itself, the top coat was not even applied onto the whole part of my nail, and even worse, it had already chipped by the next morning. It is unfortunate that we had such a horrible experience because the reviews seemed to be good.
The picture below was from the next morning(I did not do any rough work...
Read moreI found another place that offers SNS nail treatment! They do it a bit differently here and they only have 5 colours though.
I went on a sunday morning with my friend without appointment and we had to wait about 30 minutes before being served, which was fine.
My nail technician was very careful which I really appreciated. My nails turned out great! The only thing that confused me is that they added a cured top coat on top of the powder so I'm not sure how they plan on removing the polish once I switch my SNS colour in 3 weeks.
I really like the SNS treatment because my real nails are getting stronger every time which will allow me to just get shellac in the future instead of the full treatment. My nail technician did mention they felt strong enough for me to just apply regular polish directly on the nail but I want to wait more to make absolutely sure they won't break. I've been waiting so long for my nails to be this length for real. I always get them shortened as well and my nail technician was almost reluctant to do it because she loved the length they were at! Seeing as this salon was in Westmount I expected the prices to be high. It was $55 with taxes and tip, not something I'm willing to pay every time but since I really needed a refill, it was ok. It's also what I used to pay sometimes for salons downtown that did...
