TL;DR: Pros: Kyle's skill isn't too bad. Cons: Double-booked, unapologetic owner, the salon takes clients' photos for granted, demands tips regardless of the service, charges pink tax (see pic), takes 3 hours 40 mins to do a pixie cut with perms, the stylist talks to other clients while having the current client's hair on a hot iron.
Kyle is a pretty good hairstylist. I'll give them that.
The owner apparently double booked "accidentally." Fine, things happen. But instead of doing the new client's haircut herself, the owner made Kyle abandon my perm mid-process (???) and cut the new client's hair. Kyle said he'll do the other person's hair "real quick," but I doubt that's what the other client wanted. When you're charging atrocious amounts of money on top of ridiculous pink tax, you're supposed to do good haircuts, not the quickest haircuts. Kyle even took the hair separator pins off my hair for the new client, which is an interesting choice. While waiting for the other person's hair, the owner asked if I wanted some tea, but she didn't seem like she cared enough.
By the time Kyle came back to me, which took about 40 mins, my partly curled, partly straight hair was half-dried and looked ridiculous. Sure, it's WIP. But you don't leave clients' hair when you're about a half into the process.
The whole process took 4 hours and 20 mins. Of course that ruined my schedule, but the owner didn't seem to care - she even shamelessly demanded tips when charging, as if she forgot what happened an hour and a half ago. You made me waste 40 mins because you double-booked, remember? Also her voice was really silent when discussing prices, which makes me wonder if that's how she talks in general.
Attached is their pricing, which is quite overpriced for what it is.
I've messaged the owner, which was "demanding tips when you double-booked feels off to me, please don't do that to clients in the future." Just expressing my dissatisfaction. Not even asking for a refund or any form of compensation, although that's what they should've offered.
Her response was "sorry for the inconvenience and thanks for your understanding." I mean... do you really think that was "understanding"? With that kind of robotic response, I'm not going back to this place. This is an overpriced salon with an entitled owner, not even to mention the lack of compassion and compensation for the trouble...
Read moreThe salon is hard to find, with limited street parking. My appointment was at 16:00, but no one acknowledged me until 16:20, after I finally stood up to ask how much longer I had to wait. Communication was poor, and I felt ignored from the moment I arrived.
The haircut was very disappointing. He cut directly on my hair while it was still bent and wavy from the claw clip, instead of wetting or straightening it first, removed much more length than I asked for, and rushed through the process. At the end, he quickly styled it with a C-curl using a hot iron, said it was done, and moved on to another client. No adjustments, no balancing, no finishing touches.
I paid over $113 (including tip - cause I'm not a bad person), but once I washed and dried my hair at home, it was uneven, choppy, and messy. Clearly not worth the price!!!
I came here because of good reviews, but my experience was frustrating and unprofessional. I'm disappointed and regretful. I wouldn’t recommend this salon...
Read moreThe salon offers a pleasant atmosphere, but it can be a bit difficult to find. Also, I found the pricing to be overpriced for the lack of transparency regarding the stylists' qualifications. In a high-end service industry, clients expect to pay a premium for proven skill. I believe the establishment would greatly benefit from publicly outlining the certifications, apprenticeship duration, or professional experience of their team members. This transparency would allow customers to make an informed choice. Additionally, implementing a tiered pricing scale that reflects the demonstrated expertise of the stylist would be a fair way to charge different rates and better justify the cost of a...
