This is one of the traditional Hong Kong steak restaurants that I recommend with all my heart. Went here with friends and ordered soup, starter and steak! All items are highly recommended and should try!
The menu shows a variety of Hong Kong style meals and with a relatively cheap price within the area. The Lobster soup and Cream of chicken soup were great, personal preference of putting tabasco to make it more favourable. For starters, ordered escargots, foie gras and a thousand island shrimp salad. First of all, escargots were swimming inside a green herb oil sauce, a bit too much oil but was acceptable. The foie gras had a nice sear and was juicy, eat it with the tomato and cucumber to refreshen your tastebuds. Last of all, the shrimp salad was fresh, with big prawns inside it and a tasteful salad.
Furthermore, the main course we ordered the sirloin steak in black pepper sauce (黑椒西冷牛扒餐) and the American Steak (美國雪花牛扒), both were extremely delicious and cook to the tenderness that we would like it to be. Extra garlic must be ordered as this is a specialty of their restaurant.
Nevertheless, a great restaurant with perfect prices within the area and...
Read moreThis may be an old time restaurant but the food is not good. I actually quite enjoy the nostalgic decor.
I’m not sure if it ever was good. Ordered the short ribs. I’m hoping the owner reads this and hopefully can improve on the food.
Please don’t marinate your meats in baking soda. Yes it makes it tender but it completely destroy the taste of the beef. And leaves a horrible mouthfeel.
The seafood soup with pastry was not good either. One can tell it’s been thickened with cornstarch. Spare a little time and make a proper roux. Skip the imitation crab meat and sear the shrimp a bit first.
These little tiny efforts can make all the difference. Perhaps your chef have completely given up on making anything tasty.
Another important thing, please Don’t serve wilted and...
Read moreWorst food I've had in Hong Kong so far. This restaurant looks gross from outside, there's a smell inside when you sit down and the food isn't any better. It's running on the bare minimum, I don't even want to know where they get their meat from. I wouldn't even feed my dog with that stuff. The beef was stewy, the fries were cold and the soup had a weird after taste. At 40hkd for lunch you can't expect much, but this is not worth it even at that price. A have a fable for old-school Hong Kong restaurants so I thought I'll give it a try, but this was a bad decision. Thinking of calling the Hong Kong food and safety...
