Times Square Remains a Solid Shopping Hub, Though Feels a Little Quieter

As a Hongkonger returning as a tourist, it's interesting to see how Times Square has evolved. The core experience is still very familiar: it's a fantastic one-stop shopping destination with an impressive range of stores. Whether you're looking for high-end luxury brands or more mainstream, accessible labels (sportswear, electronics, everyday fashion), it's all here, just like before. The variety truly caters to everyone.

This visit, however, felt different. Compared to the buzz of the past, Times Square seems to have lost some of its sparkle, likely due to the rise of trendier spots like Hysan Place nearby, which pulls in the younger crowd. While this means it feels a bit less vibrant overall, the silver lining is the comfort. It's much easier to browse now with noticeably lighter foot traffic. This actually made for a more relaxed shopping experience.

The service stood out positively. With fewer crowds, staff in most stores were exceptionally attentive and welcoming. We often felt like valued customers, receiving personalized and unhurried service – a definite plus!

As a family travelling with a baby, we really appreciated the family-friendly amenities. The baby changing/nursing rooms were clean, well-maintained, and readily available. Getting around with a stroller was manageable, though like many older Hong Kong buildings, the elevator system requires transfers to reach certain floors – a minor hassle, but expected.

The location remains a major strength: direct MTR access (Causeway Bay Station) is unbeatable, and there's a convenient supermarket (I think it's Yata?) in the basement. Being right on Russell Street also means buses and cross-harbour transport (like at Canal Road Flyover) are easily accessible.

Overall: Times Square might not be the absolute trendsetter it once was, but it's still a very good, well-rounded mall. The extensive selection, excellent service (especially now), clean family facilities, and superb location make it absolutely worth visiting ("仲係好好行!"). Times Square (Chinese: 時代廣場) is a major shopping centre and office tower complex in Causeway Bay, Hong Kong Island, Hong Kong. The complex, owned by Wharf Properties Limited, part of The Wharf (Holdings) Limited group, was opened in April 1994.

The site was previously occupied by the original Sharp Street tram depot of the Hong Kong Tramways, another of the Wharf's subsidiary operations acquired in 1974. The Executive Council approved Tramways' plan to relocate its depots to Sai Wan Ho and Sai Ying Pun in July 1986, on the argument that the HK$3.5 million in operating costs savings would allow for tram fares to be held down.[4] Additionally the noise of maintenance and tram movements at night was said to have long been a nuisance to surrounding residential buildings.[4]

The area was predominantly residential,[4] and the Town Planning Board insisted that the project did not include any more residential space. In July 1987, Wharf unveiled draft plans to redevelop the site into 1,600,000-square-foot (148,600 m2) of office and retail space.[5] Following the relocation of Wanchai depot, the site was surrendered to its associate in 1988.

In 1991, the concrete plans were announced: the project would create 186,000 m2 of retail and office complex, an estimated construction cost of HK$ 2 billion.[6]

At the time, this part of Wanchai/Causeway Bay was deemed "not a very attractive part of town". The developer's debt levels and the uncertainty over sovereignty also rendered project financing more problematic.[6] Now it is considered prime property in the heart of...

Times Square is a shopping center and office tower complex in Causeway Bay, Hong Kong. It’s landmark also. Although it’s been open since 1994, the inside appearance still look new.

Time square is on top of causeway Bay Mrt station. There are many world big brands inside. There are some local restaurants on shopping center top level like crystal jade in singapore. A bit pricy.

B2 links to Mrt station. There are Swisse product posters dancing on the wall. It seems this Swisse never care about SG market... do so many Adv in HK!... the shop sales in B2 don’t seem to know the building structure. They don’t know which road leads to which train entrance... it’s 400m from time square entrance to Mrt entrance...

The clock and big tv screen outside can help tourists to identify the directions, after all, you will come out from different exits each time when you climb up from causeway Bay station...

Although there are big brands here, but Travelers who don’t stay nearby may not have time to travel here. All these big brands are not cheap in HK. It doesn’t worth a...
