The Kwun Yam (also pronounced Guan Yim or Kun iam) Temple is situated in the northern section of the Ma Hang Park just west of the popular Stanley Promenade and Murray House. It is open from 8.30am to 5pm daily and is accessible by roadside entrance along Cape Road. You can use the paved walking trails through the park to Cape Road as well. There are numerous temples around Hong Kong dedicated to Kwun Yam, the Goddess of Mercy. This one includes main two buildings encountered shortly after entering the temple grounds, one features glossy red tile exterior. This is the main worship hall. Within you'll find traditional temple features including a shrine with goddess and typical items of worship. More interesting is the 15-metre tall statue of Kwun Yam just behind the two temple buildings. It is covered with an even taller four-sided pavilion structure with nice paintings and decoration. The statue overlooks the Stanley Village and is a neat little find in Stanley. If you enjoy temple visits, there is also the interesting Pak Tai Temple that hugs the shoreline within the Ma Hang Park. It is just a few minutes walk from the Kwun Yam Temple. The historic Tin Hau Temple at the western end of Stanley Main Street is well worth a visit as well. And if you are really into temples, have a quick look at the tiny Tai Wong Temple just on the other side of the Stanley Plaza from the Tin Hau Temple as well.

The Stanley Kwun Yam Temple is at a quiet place next to the entrance of the Ma Hang Park . Couldn't imagine that there's a big Kwun Yam in this small temple.

Peaceful spot that isnt too large either. You can get to this area by bus or walking through the park in stanley. Be careful of wild pigs around here.

Great little hidden Buddhist monastery above Stanley. There is a very large Kwun Yam statue towering over the mountain and Stanley Bay. The monastery offers a wonderfully basic vegetarian lunch with rice. There is no price for lunch, but you offer a donation for what you think is fair towards the monastery and...
