One of the interesting heritage attractions along the Stanley Promenade is the historic Murray House. Originally constructed in 1844 in Central district, this was the old Murray Barracks officers' quarters. This landmark building was dismantled in 1982 and later reassembled here in Stanley in 2001.
Being one of Hong Kong's oldest surviving public buildings, the Murray House classical in style. It features Doric and Ionic style columns and is lined with outdoor verandahs on all sides. These days, the Murray House serves commercial purpose and is filled with restaurants and a large H&M retail outlet, allowing visitors to do a bit of shopping and dining while enjoying time spend within one of Hong Kong's oldest surviving public buildings.
