I am rating the stand making the French toast as opposed to the noodle place in the same area, which I believe is called 民益麵家. Anyways, it's in a muggy, dirty hole in the wall environment, which I held against the noodle place, but since the food is given to-go here I think the negative environment was not an issue. I never had Hong Kong style French toast before and thought it was really delicious and at an affordable price. It looked like it would be super greasy but actually it did not feel or taste like it. I enjoyed watching the guy make it.

It's a neighborhood place where guests clearly know each other. English speaking staff with the expected cha chaan teng grumpy attitude. It's nice to experience this atmosphere now that more and more cha chaan teng just switch to unpersonal app ordering. Unfortunately there was no French toast available that day. The drinks and food were all good and quickly served. We also had won ton noodles from the stall next to it, served to the same table. Those were great too!

Regarded as almost an institution in the area, it a slightly dilapidated. Run by a senior couple, they serve noodles and toast and drinks. On the day we visited, the lady said they had run out of toast by 11 am, so we ordered milk tea with noodles and five spiced pork. The milk teas were okay - while not the best we have had in HK, they were also definitely not the worst. The noodles were nice, and peppered with shreds of canned five spiced pork. Do note the wonton noodles are served by the stall next to them.

The name of the eatery is 民益大牌檔. There’re 2 entrances. A unique narrow entrance, n there’s a wider entrance on the other side. There’s an “aircon” corner inside. Ordered the fried fish skin, kway teow (粿条)soup with fishballs n fish cakes, dried Wanton noodles (a bit cooked too hard n salty), kway teow soup with pig skin, n pieces of squid with gravy. The wanton noodles in soup would be a better choice.

Toasts would only be available from 1330 to 1600. I personally have been there on several occasions but still failed to try their toasts. It may looked big but it is still possible to finish all 4 slices by yourself. Place was small and was not equipped with air-conditioning; possibly quite stuffy for some people. I guess this is a price to pay for good food.

I will give this place a 0 ⭐️ They know we’re not local, then trying to sell as double price I noticed that and arguing with them But I still pay a low quality bo-lo bun for HKD$10 dollars (which should be 6 on the menu) Go to bakehouse to buy the egg tart just cost u HKD$12.5, and the quality and taste is 200% way better than this
