We went a bit further to Stanley for date night dinner on Sunday. Famous for their brilliant British food, Pickled Pelican is a British restaurant and bar located at the promenade of Stanley main street. Pickled Pelican is a two-story restaurant with outdoor seating area on the ground floor, and a pool table on the second floor. We made a reservation in advanced, and were seated on the second floor with a table by the window as we wished. Awesome! We were able to enjoy the sea view without being blown by the strong wind XD We do recommend the second floor for the time being! We ordered a drink to start with. Red wine for my partner, and Oreo Milkshake for me. The milkshake was definitely fantastic! It’s so smooth and flavoured! Yet not overly sweet nor stuffing with the cookies and cream ice cream in it. It’s truly enjoyable even throughout the meal! We came for this Cheezy Lava burger, which was a gourmet beef burger with melted cheese sauce and bacon! It’s absolutely delightful and wowing! The melted cheese sauce was so yummy! It didn’t solidify very quickly, so that you could still enjoy this melted cheese with the beef burger. We opted for medium for the beef, and the meaty beef was thicker than the burger itself! The thin crispy bacon on top was great too! We simply loved everything about this burger! We upgraded our fries to Cheesy Guacamole Fries. You would never know guacamole could go so well with cheese to give you a foodgasm with ordinary fries until you try it! Another dish we ordered was this Weekend special Lobster Pie. It was funny how the lobster shell was positioned to look at you when served. It was an empty shell though, but all the meat was in the pie, as well as the crawls on top. We liked this potato mash seafood pie a lot. Some of the lobster meat tasted a bit too fishy to me though. On the whole, we were very satisfied with the dining environment and food at Pickled Pelican, it’s a great place for a chillaxing date night dinner.

Our regular weekdays outing spot particularly when I get a chance to work from home. Why, I can pick up my car after work, pick up my wife and off we go to Stanley Main Street! A spot where we can bring our little puppy and enjoy excellent food and particularly extra smooth Guinness. On a week day evening, the main courses were buy 1 get 1 free! Excellent deal! Drinks at 30% off. If you enjoy a pint of stout, Guinness is highly recommended and the smoothness can almost match those I tasted in Dublin, you even get a little shamrock(a small clover which is now the national flower of Ireland) imprinted on top of the white beer fluff like what you’ll in many Irish pubs.

They put this sign out to state that a jug of peroni is ‘buy 1 get 1 free’. With this sign, you’d assume the other drinks are also in the same promotion. But it was not. To add to the ridiculousness, when we ordered the jug of peroni, they mentioned it’s $280 for one jug and $530 for 2 jugs. So where was the buy one get one free? They insisted this was what they meant and it’s cheaper to get 2 jugs. I can’t understand how they can deceive customers like this. Luckily we asked!

The pub is fine for a drink. The food is nothing to write home about. The Steak is a bit fatty, the Lava Burger is smothered in chemical cheese and the fries are okay. The nacho portion is smallish. I find the pricing way too high for what it is: pub grub. 170$ for a burger? 50$ plus service charge for a ginger ale is also quite ridiculous. But friendly staff and the outside area is nice on a lazy weekend afternoon. The cocktails looked good, too.

Good service. The food was nice. We ordered the Roasted Octopus, Nachos Platter and Duck Leg Risotto. The risotto was disappointing as it tasted a little flat and under flavoured. The octopus and nachos were of good taste. We were arranged to sit by the windows. The view from the restaurant was gorgeous which gave you a super good mood for food.

A restaurant with good views and above average food. We ordered chicken wings, French onion soup, lobster bisque and roasted octopus. The roasted octopus was definitely a standout dish, though it was quite greasy if we had to nitpick.
