Sea Dancer Dive Center — Local services in South Sinai

We got our Open Water Diver licence here last month. All in all it was a good experience. The most important criteria choosing the right center to me are the skills and experience of the instructor himself and the feeling of safety he can give to a new diver. It has been great with Hamada. He explained everything with patience and was repeating single exercises over and over again, until we got it right. For some exercises I have been scared but acknowledged soon enough that I have someone on my side who has everything under control.

However, I have to admit that staying quite some time with the center, it appears more than natural that you expect a minimum of hospitality including the offer of at least a glass of water, as you stay for up to 6,7 hours a day. Unfortunately there was not such an offer and questions were answered with the recommendation of a store to buy water by ourselves. I don’t have a comparison to other diving centers in Dahab, maybe that’s a common thing, but to me it is a no-go, drinks and snacks are very affordable in Egypt and you let quite a sum with the centers.

Another situation was that we planned to do a boat trip with another organizer some days after we finished the Open Water course. We passed by the center for their opinion as experts of the area. The reaction was honestly poor, which showed that they would only want you to book something with them. At the end I regretted my greenness to have asked for advice, as the trip was amazing, but my question led to some bad consequences. I found this so unprofessional! In the retrospect I have the impression that also the owner was only nice as long as we were deciding about booking something. Would I go back? Honestly, for Hamada yes. If it would not be with him, I am not that sure.

I took a month of time to reflect on this experience, but decided that it is only fair to people like us debating about the if, to know about all this. Little changes could make a huge difference! I hope you see this as a chance and won’t take...

I can’t say enough good things about this dive shop! My husband and I spent the last 3 weeks diving with Sea Dancer, and we loved every minute of it. The staff was incredibly attentive, friendly, and made us feel so welcome. We had the pleasure of diving with Emad, Hamada, and Ahmed — all of whom were amazing! They were thorough in their briefings, always prioritizing diver safety, and consistently pointed out fascinating marine life.

After each dive, we’d chat about what we saw, and they always shared fun facts. They even brought out the fish identification books so I could read more about the animals we encountered — such a nice touch 💙

The equipment is BRAND NEW, and I was honestly amazed, especially since some of the gear I’ve encountered in the past has been worn down. On top of that, their system is so organized, and everything is always in its place, which makes getting ready a breeze.

What really stood out, though, was the sense of family at Sea Dancer. You can tell that the team genuinely enjoys working together, which makes the experience even more special. Plus, the owner, Ashraf, has two of his brothers on staff, so it really is like a family atmosphere. We visited during Ramadan, and despite fasting, the staff maintained such high energy and enthusiasm — it was truly impressive!

We can’t wait to return next year and hopefully stay even longer (and do the other tours they offer!). Highly recommend Sea Dancer to anyone looking to dive in a professional, fun, and welcoming...

I don't usually write reviews but Sea Dancer were so outstanding I had to write to say what an incredible experience I had!

My friends and I recently completed our Open Water certification and the service provided by Sea Dancer was exceptional from start to finish. Before we even arrived Steve took the time to provide detailed and helpful responses to our many emails. The dive shop had a super relaxed vibe and all the staff and other divers were so friendly and encouraging. Two of us were ill and had to take two days off, and Sea Dancer couldn't have been more accommodating, changing the schedule to fit us. We were even provided with free lifts to and from our hotel everyday!

Emad was our instructor, and I honestly cannot sing his praises highly enough! He is so experienced and we all felt we were in the best hands possible. He provided one-on-one teaching to reinforce skills we were uncomfortable with, tailored the sessions to us and provided constant reassurance and encouragement the whole way through. I was nervous on some of the open water dives and he metaphorically and literally held my hand through the whole thing. His kindness, understanding and expertise shone through in every lesson and helped make even the most nervous among us have a great time.

I can't imagine a better instructor, dive centre or location to learn to dive. Thank you so much for everything Sea...
