I did a lot of research before choosing a dive centre in Dahab. In the end, I went with Scuba Seekers because I saw that they had won a âTop 10 Dive Centres in the Worldâ diver-voted award from Dive Magazine - I figured, if so many other divers loved them enough to vote for them, they must be good.
(Spoiler alert: I am now one of those divers who would vote for them in a heartbeat.)
Writing this review now, after 12 days of diving with them, let me tell you that âGoodâ does not even begin to cover it - they were amazing, so much so that I fully intend to fly to Dahab and take all my Tech diving courses with them.
My positive impression started the moment I arrived. I was shown around the dive centre, and the first thing that jumped out is the attention to detail and organisation.
Everything has a place and feels like part of a larger process designed to maintain order and keep everyone safe: from the numbered locker keys hanging neatly on their corresponding hooks, to the designated areas where each dive team will be kiting up for the day (no need to worry about your gear accidentally been swept up by another team!), to the incredibly tidy equipment room, to the custom-designed trolleys used to carry gear, all the way down to the packing checklist our dive guide ran us through before our SS Thistlegorm day trip to make sure nobody would be missing anything by the time we reached the boat.
If you told me that Scuba Seekers was secretly a shrine to the Gods of Organisation & Logistics, I would believe you. (Though in truth, itâs a shrine to Tech Diving, and it shows!)
I was lucky enough to spend two days with Scuba Seekerâs owner Sameh Sokar as my instructor, helping me get back to the fundamentals of diving and fine-tune my sidemount setup.
If you get the opportunity to have Sameh teach you anything, take it. I feel like I learned more from him in a day than in the rest of my diving years. Sameh radiates the kind of grounded confidence, technical mastery, lack of ego, and contagious happiness that seems to imbue all parts of his dive centre. Here is a man who clearly loves diving and loves teaching others to get better at diving - and that passion was visible in everyone else who works there.
I did a bunch of guided âfun divesâ with ScubaSeekers during the rest of my time in Dahab. Iâd ask each of my guides âhey, Iâm keen to work on my fundamentals, so if you have any comments for me on trim, positioning, or anything after watching me dive, Iâd love to hear them.â Let me tell you - I learned so much in that week of diving! ScubaSeekerâs divemasters are clearly passionate about diving (you can see it in the way their eyes light up whenever they start talking about it). Each of them told me how the GUE Fundamentals course had changed their life, and they were more than happy to pass on their knowledge. I spent many happy hours in between dives talking about fin kicks, nerding out about various sidemount configurations, or listening to them explain how to best plan a dive using the tech diving approach.
The guided fun dives themselves were amazing. Because I was on sidemount and my divemaster was on doubles (and because I wasnât bundled into a group with a bunch of divers on single tanks) we made the most of our extra nitrox with long 80 minutes dives - an absolute joy.
I should probably wrap-up this review, though I could go on talking about how great my time with Scuba Seekers was all day. If youâre looking for an outfit to dive with in Dahab - whether youâre taking your first steps into diving or whether youâre looking for a knowledgeable and safe Tech diving centre - I cannot recommend them highly enough. Go, you wonât regret it, I promise you will leave with a smile on your lips and your head full of new diving knowledge.
Iâm already counting the days until I come back. The team Sameh and his wife Kim have put together is just amazing, and their passion and technical knowledge shine through in everything about this...
Read moreThank you for some of the best weeks of my life Scuba Seekers family! I spent three weeks in Dahab, diving everyday, completing my GUE Tech Fundies and then CCR Guided dives. That gave me the gift of diving with almost everyone, so sit back because this is going to be a long review.
The center is a 10/10 in terms of storage space, drying area, organization, cleanliness and tidiness. The logistics are safety oriented and ratios very reduced. In terms of cylinder fills, the compressor room team was always on point, efficient, well organized, and there were OC and CCR sheets to keep track of everything. Paperwork was made efficient by doing it online prior to arrival and once at the center everyone was very diligent with keeping up to date, which reflects on their safety and professionalism level. The guides and instructors went above and beyond at all times, theyâre not only skilled in the water but also skilled at reading people and knowing how to adapt.
In general the team gets a rating of 20/10. I enjoyed knowing of everyoneâs journey in the industry and I learned something from every single person there. Everyone at Scuba Seekers is highly trained, has high diving standards and they continuously support and uplift you, not ever making you feel judged, itâs a great psychologically safe environment in which to grow.
Major thank you to Christina, Pauline, Kristen, Ahmed and Shrouk in the office for your flexibility and adaptability, especially when I changed my plans with little notice. You made my diving wishes true every time! đđ˝ besides, communication via email was always super efficient and straightforward, whilst also taking the time to answer all my questions.
Thank you to the amazing team in the compressor room, Mo Ali, Ragab, Tito, and all the drivers. You were one of the biggest reasons why it felt like a holiday, not allowing me to lift a cylinder in three weeks! You always were careful manipulating the equipment too, I felt I could trust them with my unit, which is my dear baby. Thank you for the support and always doing the job with such smiles!
Thank you to Mahmoud Esmat for the GUE training, patience, observational skills, feedback delivery, respect, politeness, psychological safety, and smiles despite the long days. Thank you to Jenn, Italy and Sameh for all the input, your attention to detail is unparalleled and I appreciated the teaching methodology and approach.
Thank you to Shady for taking me on my first dive in Dahab, to Sharaawy for the amazing one day of guided ccr dive, to Leheta for all the tec support, fantastic dives and diving discussions. Thank you AlizĂŠ for the dives, I couldnât stop smiling on our dives, you were super easy going, adaptable when plans changed, and professional at the same time. Mashraba has a special place in my heart thanks to you! Shoutout to my main buddy Hamouda, with whom I did manyyy days of ccr guided dives, enjoyed lovely surface intervals with diving talks, and made lots of fun videos. Hamouda, I will be back and weâll enjoy even more silent non silent ccr dives together! You all helped me find the fun in diving again and gave me the space to get comfortable in another ccr configuration.
Scuba Seekers, you went above and beyond. This is goals in terms of how a dive center should work, and I would know since Iâm an instructor. Besides, itâs even more impressive when thinking about the quality of service delivered despite the dimensions of the operations. I...
Read moreAmazing experience and finally my childhood's dream of diving is made true by this outstanding scuba center. The place came highly recommended from all my friends who dives, look no where else, as their attention to standards, safety and high level of professionalism is matched by none, starting the amazing, super friendly staff, Mr. Ashraf, who I contacted to book last minute open water license course, being naive myself I didn't know it's that busy and I only have few days off work to make the dream come true, can't thank Mr. Ashraf for being so friendly, honest and always on the game, always replying to my messages and very dedicated to his job with such a passion. He managed to sort my course, not only to have the course in such notice, but with one of the best instructors in Dahab, who became a great friend. I had my course with Mr.Amr El kwas, Such lovely, super friendly young man, who started the course with the basics and technical stuff, He was very professional, very knowledgeable, very patient when it comes to my stupid questions and later on when i tried to put on the weights under water exercise (I struggled with that one), He made the course so much fun, that I enjoyed every minute of it, He made things easier by his simple way of teaching and showing the way of doing it and tricks to make it easier., IT was also amazing experience that it was solo course, and everything was tailored around me. which made the whole experience more personal and great. We had 9 dives in total for my course ( I don;t think there is any center in Dahab or maybe in the world would give you that number of dives for the course), which was amazing, He built my confidence little by little and before i know it, I'm in love with that sport, and can't wait for my next dive, (inshaAllah), The Center was always busting with customers and divers, there are many stations, showers always had warm water no matter what time we came back from the dive. Thank you everyone at Scuba seekers for such amazing experience, great service and Amr, thank you for teaching me the principle of such amazing lovely sport that forever i'm in your debt for teaching me how to dive. Till we dive again inshaAlah , when i'm back in Egypt .. Big...
