Egmont — Restaurant in Aachen

Usually this is my place to be for hanging out und normally I would give Cafe Egmont a good review because the drink and service have been always good.

Not for today : I was with a friend and not only was the waiter (a guy with kind of afro hair) so unmotivated, he also spilled the beer I ordered on both of us without even apologizing whatsoever afterward.

I mean,this accident can happen but at least an apologize would be nice after spilling the beer all over us. He didn't even give us some paper towels until I asked him to, luckily the other customers gave us some tissues.

Then came the bill : They charged the beer TWICE - the first one the waiter spilled on us and the second one (I didn't order extra, this was a new one which the waiter brought to us after he spilled the first one) was charged on us, eventhough imho they should've gave us a free beer on house after "showering" us with it.

Needless to say, no tips from us! And sorry for the bad review for today - I think this is just fair considering the bad service we got. Please train your waiters to be better! I hope my next visit would be better.

Could be great: Cosy interior and alright food served from next door. But the cocktails were (very!) bad even for the happy hour price (even the longsdrinks were bad). Apparently totally untrained bar staff. Orders were messed up (forgotten or wrong or undrinkable) for us about 5-10 out of roughly 30 times. The staff then had the attitude that I should pay for a missing payment for a beer of our big table (where they admitted it was likely their fault and we think so, too) after admitting they billed me personally too much (no happy hour price!) and after I originally and just a minute before tipped them over 10% - I payed exactly 20 Euro for two very bad cocktails and a bad longdrink after all of which I felt not even slightly tipsy. I don't care enough about the euros, but the attitude of that young man (who did not want to pay with his tips for their mistakes?) really sucked as did...

Nice cafe bar in Aachen, great selection of drinks and Belgian beers. Cozy atmosphere with lots of seating options, sometimes it felt like the tables are too close. During evening it might get crowded and noisy. The great thing about this place is that you can order food from next restaurant and enjoy. You need to make separate payments.
