Yesterday we went to AKL because I was really craving middle eastern food especially the rice with Arabic spices. Unfortunately when we were there it's a lil bit pack (lining for take away), which is we understood because it's nearly dinner time. We asked several workers is it possible for us to get the table, and we didn't get any clear I formations. We were waiting about more than 15mins and no one help us, while the girl next to us get help easily (they are obviously Dutch, they speak Dutch all the way long). We didn't want to be rude by weaving our hands and asking for help but seriously the waiter just ignore us. When suddenly the worker get to help us, he suddenly asked did we bring the negative corona test? at first we didn't know, then we understand that's ok we don't have it we can leave the Resto but the strange things was the workers not asking the corona test results to the girls seating next to us! I was like, why? is it just because my appearance, I am asian! while the girl next to us they white!. me and my partner instantly felt that's it's not right and the way they treat me - us (I am Asian and my BF is White) just bad! don't get me wrong, me and my partner highly respect the rule and the regulation in each country related to corona but what happened with this resto was the rules is not applied for the white people and applied for Asian girl like me. as long as I am living in Europe thanks God I am never ever feel racism is re but yesterday the exceptional! first day in my life I felt the...
Read moreWe went on a day trip to Aachen and were excited to have Lebanese food. I am Lebanese and hommos (not ‘humus’) runs through my blood.
We ordered one chicken shawarma sandwich, a side of fries, a side of chicken samosas and cheese samosas, and a mixed grill plate which contained rice, kabab skewers, tawouk skewers, and shawarma. The plates looked great and the portions are quite generous, however the taste was completely off. The hommos did not taste like hommos at all, there was coleslaw in the chicken shawarma sandwich which is a big no-no it you are a true Lebanese place, we found a small hair in the fries, the rice tasted good but was clearly heated from the day before as there were still rice lumps stuck together in our plate. The samosas were drowned in oil and barely had any cheese in them, and the chicken samosas were not very tasty to be honest. The kebab (i think they were trying to go for kafta) and the tawouk did not taste anything like home so we were extremely disappointed.
All in all, I would rank the experience 2 stars or a 4/10. As a Lebanese who was super excited to have a taste of home, I was seriously disappointed and would not repeat this experience or recommend it to any Lebanese...
Read moreThis is one of the busiest and budget friendly restaurants very close to Aachener dom(cathedral). The restaurant is continuously buzzing with takeaways where people are standing in long lines to get their orders. I dined in this great restaurant. The location is great with its proximity to the cathedral and the prime location in the old town area. You will definitely be surprised after seeing the menu and the prices given the location of the restaurant. The food was served hot and quick. The service was also really fast given the number of takeaway orders being processed. The dishes were also authentic Lebanese cuisine and one cannot complain about the taste. I had fagita veggie and falafel menu. Both of the dishes were really delicious. For drinks, fresh pressed orange juice is strongly recommended. I would definitely recommend the restaurant if you are in aachen and visiting the cathedral or strolling around the old town. It is accessible by public transport and is difficult to find parking given the area and it is a pedestrian zone....
