A group of us had landed in the evening and decided to head out. The area is a bit rough around the edges. I'm not sure about the laws, but drinking on the street and smoking weed was common along the way. Each to their own, but if you're looking for the nicer side of the city, this isn't it. As for the bar itself, it's not typically my scene, but it was an experience. It seemed a very local favoured establishment, and at first, there was no real appetite from the bar staff to serve us, but as the evening went on, we were served with more ease. The facilities are something to be desired. Cleanliness isn't a word I would associate with the place, but I don't think that's what they're going for. The smoking in the bar supported the feeling that we had travelled back in time. It felt we had walked into the late 90s. Waking up the next day, my clothes absolutely stunk.
All this may sound very negative, but it is a niche establishment. It's not common where I am from, and I suspect the same for many others. I am happy for the experience but If I find myself in berlin again I won't...
Read moreLovely bar , nice music taste (even tho sometimes can get too loud but if you know where are you going that's ok) but the MOST horrible staff ever.
I ordered a drink, the bartender understood something else, when I got the drink on the counter and I said "no sorry this is not what I asked" (I could not even pronounce the order he gave me) he served me mine and made me pay for both telling me that I TOTALLY ordered that. (wot?) let me put straight it was a simple beer not like omg fancy stuff (and I know I did not order it because I don't even like beer!)
This is incredible rude, I think I know what I ordered and I only paid not to have my night ruined over a silly drink but let me tell you, as a bartender I have been myself this is not the way you do it. So nope,...
Read moreThe bar is good as is the people that go there. However, the bartender threatened to smack a glass bottle of Becks over my friend's head simply because my friend asked about his tattoo. He does not like English people (or maybe humans in general). Berliners apparently accept this as the norm but when he is telling his crowd of customers "to get the f* out", I refuse to accept this as 'the norm.' He even got up close to my friend and asked 'do you like that sweety?' My friend kept his cool even though he could have smacked the receding Mohawk Barnet off of the absolute Kuntz. The barman then gave me a shot of tequila because I had left him two cigarettes (I did this before he acted like a bigoted toss-pot otherwise the cigarettes would have went up...
