The Pharmacy Bar — Restaurant in Berlin

Worst customer service I've experienced in my life. We waited over half an hour for drinks before finally deciding to leave and getting sworn at & insulted. They'd clearly forgotten about us as I saw the barmaid remind the barman we were waiting 15mins after the order. Then 15 mins later, I asked her when they'd be ready and she said 'they're just coming' and pointed to cocktails being made which turned out to not be ours! After walking out, the barman/manager followed us onto the street (where there were now full tables of people outside with drinks who weren't there when we arrived!) and challenged our decision to leave. I said that we're used to waiting for good cocktails and understand they take time but this was ridiculous. He then called us 'motherf*ers' and told us to leave Berlin and to never come back. This was a deeply disappointing experience. The ambient is nice. However, the service is rude, pretentious and treats customers inappropriately. This attitude leaves a really bad impression. We have booked online and have gotten an automatic confirmation. Then the waiter told us we should not have gotten one. To our surprise, the bar was not really packed. There were at least five free tables. The bouncer told us that cocktails will take at least 30min. The waiter then told us it will take an hour. Most of the tables already had their drinks. Efficiency and making money seems to be a distant concept and an unexplored territory. If this is a strategy to make the place more exclusive, it is just sad and unjustified. Furthermore, there are similar reviews with answers from the owner that the constructive feedback is accepted and they deserve a second chance. I've been there a couple of times it was great each time. The decor is based on an old apothecary, down to vintage medicine bottles in glass cabinets and medicine daers behind the bar. Now, don't think cheap remakes - theirs seems authentic.

The drinks are extremely well made and the price is fair for what you get. They also bring you your drinks, which is more relaxing than being the waiter yourself like in most of the other Berlin bars.

You can also smoke inside, which is a plus in Berlin's forever winter. I will say this though, it never becomes too smoky, which is nice if you have non smokers going with you.

The only con is that you will need to make a reservation. Unless you get there right after opening hours.
