Gopalan Innovation Mall — Local services in Bengaluru

I recently visited Gopalan Innovation Mall, and I have to say I was pretty disappointed with the experience. I expected a typical mall—some retail shops, dining options, and maybe a few entertainment facilities. However, what I found was far from what I imagined. Most of the space was taken up by visa agencies, verification offices, and other corporate establishments. It honestly felt more like a business complex than a vibrant shopping destination.

The few things that stood out were a small play area on the top floor and a supermart on the ground floor. The play area, while decent, was quite small and didn’t offer much variety in terms of entertainment, especially for families or kids looking for more to do. As for the supermart, it was just a basic grocery store with essentials, which didn’t really add much to the overall experience.

The mall’s layout and atmosphere also didn’t help. It had a pretty dull and uninviting vibe, and without enough retail shops, it felt more like an office building than a place to relax or shop. There were very few people around, which just made the whole place feel quieter and less lively.

All in all, Gopalan Innovation Mall is not somewhere I would recommend for shopping or entertainment. It feels more like a business center with a couple of basic amenities. To get such an experience, I have been ar ab opening event of the Barbeque Nation which recently got opened at Gopalan Mall, Bannerghatta Road. It has got very bright ambience space apart from other barbeque outlets which generally go with little dark themes.

Speaking of the menu, Barbeque Nation always keep the standards high intact with the taste and cuisine varieties. On the Veg starters, they have got Italian dishes such as pasta, veg mix, premium veggies and on Indian part they got all the street food varieties in the house.

Here they got exclusive bar space, where you can get yourself boozed-up with customized drinks and mocktails. In the main course, the menu is majorly towards Indian with few Chinese delicacies along with a high amount of salads and healthy appetizers there.

On the desserts, there has been the largest count of options I have seen ever in any BBQ restaurant yet and best of them was the customized kulfi icecream.

This mall is not that hip and happening in comparison to other malls in Bengaluru. Situated on the 2nd floor of the Gopalan Mall there is a Government sponsored outlet selling exquisite Indian Handicraft items which I visited.. And since it is sponsored by the Government of India rest assured that the items they house are of genuine quality and offer a wonderful price tag.

I was looking for some gift items for my American friends who were in town and hence dropped by to pick up few stuff. I was blown away by their price tags as they were really good. Icing on the cake was the 10% discount that was offered during that period. Picked up few items from Jaipur, dolls made out of wooden cravings and few stuff made out of marble. They were really at a steal. The mall in itself does not attract heavy footfalls but do drop by at the Khadi Bhandar if you are looking for genuine handloom and handicraft items. The movie hall is a plus feature out here, which primarily attracts its major footfall. There are some clothing and apparel brands but they are limited in number. It has a mini Cafe Coffee Day and a Taco Bell outlet to fill your hungry stomachs, but the food court attached to the movie hall is not upto the mark.
