Food: Masala dosa - What fascinates me about MTR is the batter consistency of their dosas. The wow factor in their dosa is the distinct flavour which every dosa has. When it comes to masala dosa it is their crispy outer with the fluffy nucleus. The mild-spiced potato masala was very filling
Ghee pudi dosa - A generous amount of ghee poured all over the dosa and a heavy rain of the spicy powder on top of it was like icing on dosa; super spicy, soft and with the chutney it was WHATTAWOW
Neer dosa - Interesting dish made out of rice flour; flimsy and soft, had unique taste owing to the key rice ingredients; was served with sweet pooranam for the side. Initially was sceptical about the combination but a bite of the dosa with the sweet filling, it was ecstacy
Poori - Blown up poori with mild oil content; came with potato chilli and is definitely worth trying once
Kharabath - This is like a flavoured upma; had red spices with nuts all around, buttery and filling on the whole
Button Idli - Mini idlies dunked in sambar gravy; soak the idlies so that the flavours get better along every bite; not too spicy but had great lentil and masala taste
Badam Halwa - Oh wow, desserts just got better; the ultra rich and smooth halwa with kesar was JOY; so sweet with overflowing consistency of the ghee
Filter coffee - Perfect end to any south-indian meal; rich in chicory, strong decoction leading to the best filter coffee out here
Ambience/Price:
This place has great seating capacity since there was never a moment when we had to wait for our seats. The whole setup is well lit with good space all around. The service too was lightning quick with very less waiting time between sessions. One of the best pocket friendly veg places in BLR with so much to offer to people like us. Off-street parking would...
Read moreThere is no match for south Indian cuisines when it comes to breakfast, And There isn’t any match for masala dosa when it comes to south Indian cuisine. And probably MTR is one of those restaurants who’s masala dosa is just unmatched.
So on a fine Saturday morning Mr,Ankush Kapoor one of my dearest friend took me to the J.P Nagar branch of MTR.
The restaurant offers free street parking space, due to rains it was bit of struggle to find a perfect parking spot.Since the restaurant is located at 5th floor and Mr.Kapoor has got a twisted ankle, we took lift rather climbing the stairs.
The restaurant has got authentic MTR vibes with its classic wooden furniture’s and the signature interiors.
We didn’t take much time in picking up the dishes from the menu, since we had already planned on eating masala dosa, but we did add a Kesari bath for me and a Badam milk (cold) for my friend.
First we were served with cold badam milk and Kesari bath. The yellow hue of the badam milk made it not only delicious but also amazing to look at., the consistency and texture of the drink made it a really enjoyable drink. On the other hand the yellow tinted Kesari bath just brightened our morning with its unmatched taste.
The masala dosas folded in triangular shape looked really great, perfectly roasted and in a perfect shape.I usually don't eat it with the ghee that they serve in a small bowl along with chantey and sambar, but My friend made sure to pour all the ghee and asked me to try it. I must admit, the dosa did taste delicious but left my fingers greasy.
The restaurant is maintained well and the hand wash area looks clean and hygienic. As usual the staff is sweet and kind.
Had a great time...
Read moreVisited MTR, JP Nagar on a fine Sunday which also happened to be Ugadi, and decided to indulge in an authentic South Indian meal. The experience lived up to expectations. The meal is priced at approximately ₹350 per person, which is quite reasonable for the variety and taste offered.
The restaurant is located on the fifth floor of the building. You can either take a spacious lift or climb up the stairs. There is both AC and non-AC seating available. I opted for the AC section for a more comfortable experience.
The meal starts with a refreshing grape juice, followed by an endless array of South Indian delicacies. The spread includes puri, dosa, rice preparations, multiple vegetarian curries, chutneys, pickles, and more. Each item was flavorful and served hot by attentive staff. The meal concludes on a sweet note with payasam, fruit salad with ice cream, and pan, offering a satisfying end to a wholesome feast.
The only downside is parking, as the restaurant is situated on a narrow road with one-side parking, which can be a challenge, especially on weekends or festival days. It’s best to use public transport or get dropped off if possible.
Overall, it’s a must-visit for traditional South Indian food lovers, especially if you're looking to celebrate a festival or enjoy a leisurely weekend lunch with family. The service is quick, the ambiance is simple yet clean, and the food...
