Donnelly's Take Away — Local services in Cork

The chipper is by no means bad and I come here from time to time but I was here recently and I have say the service left me annoyed and feeling short changed.

The price advertised for a burger and chip was €6.95 and when I handed in my €10 the change I was given was €3. I know its only 5 cents but if their prices say €6.95 I expect €3.05 back. I doubt I would have been charged anything more than €6.95 if I had used my debit card. Giving your customers their correct change matters!!

The other thing that annoyed me, and while I was ok with the outcome, I found the lack of asking problematic. I personally enjoy salt and vinegar on my chips however, I know a lot of people don't. When the staff member was serving the customer ahead of me he poured the batch of chips into the tray and asked the customer ahead if they wanted salt and vinegar to which they said yes, the staff member proceeded to dress the chips accordingly and served them. Then when it was my turn the staff member just bagged the remaining chips in the tray and gave them to me without asking if I wanted salt and vinegar or not. As I said, it made no difference as I personally like salt and vinegar however, many people don't and I found this to be unprofessional.

theyve kept the name but it clearly isnt donnellys or Irish owned anymore. ordered food for delivery it never arrived. rang the store 1hour and 30mins later and was basically told that the shop phone was rerouted to this mobile n he will check and ring back, waited another 10mins to ring them again(got no call back) and was told oh they didnt call and less than 5mins later i got a call to say the food is there n ready since an hour and a half ago but theyre delivery driver didnt show up and it will be the 1st one out. 1stly they should have called within the hour to say that the food wasnt being delivered but nawh they expected me to wait around further(couldnt give a timeframe) for the food that had been already sat there for an hour....

Do not waste your time and money at Donnelly's. We were not alerted to our delivery (by call, text, notification, email etc) until AFTER the driver had left. After receiving an email that the driver had abandoned the order, I rang the takeaway only to be insulted and intimidated into paying an excess charge for re-delivery!!! The man on the phone claimed I couldn't be notified because of data protection (??) I never write negative reviews, but this case goes above and beyond. Money-chasing takeaway.
