Gondola Ferry Service — Local services in Venice

Traghetto is a form of public transportation and this took us to the other side saving us 10mins of walking. I was scared coz it was rocking like crazy but glad I tried a gondola without paying €90. We paid €2 to cross. Not bad.

Don’t be confused between Traghetto & Gondola. One is for getting from point A to point B in a smaller boat and the other is for tourists in a bigger, fancier gondola. After seeing how difficult it is to be a gondolier, I totally understand why they charge tourists €90 for 30mins on a gondola.

This is a terrible service! The gondoliers are really rude, unethical and xenophobic. I was called "stupido americano" when I asked if I could pay by credit card (I didn't have any cash left). I was surrounded by a group of gondoliers and one of them started to grab my personal belongings and got me and my 9-year old child really scared.
