Tonight I had pizza at Ai Dogi. After 20 minutes of waiting for our food, I asked the server for an update and he said it would take another minute. In the end, it took a total of over thirty minutes for food to arrive. Once I got it I noticed the mushrooms were canned. I've only used canned mushrooms when my family made personal pizzas at home. Why is an Italian restaurant based in Italy getting such subpar ingredients? Especially if there's a market for fresh produce a few blocks away. I noticed two ladies eating next to me, so I was curious what they were eating. The first one was eating an alfredo that was damp with gray water beneath it. The second was eating a rice dish in which the rice grains were drowning in water. Don't let their fun loving demeanor fool you. You do not want to eat here.

Been in and around Italy for a good 20 years. Venice can be annoying for food. Some places are rip offs. Some are good but expensive, some are expensive and bad. This is none of these. First the staff are absolutely fantastic. Friendly, polite, respectful, attentive, not imposing. They are welcoming, put you at ease and are multi lingual - they don't try to drag you in but rather give you space to choose. The food is really good. They have local Venetian dishes that are well made. The wine and drinks are decent. The prices are really good, hence the 5 star. It's not a place for delicate perfection of special dishes, but if you want good local food at a decent price, with friendly staff who aren't trying to rip you off, give it a go

Ai dogi is quite dodgy. AVOID AT ALL COSTS! Good: cheap compared to others in Venice Bad: you get worse than cheap food Ordered tagliatelle bolognese, but received overcooked spaghetti with cold sauce that tasted worst than the store bought sauce. The pizza Quattro formaggi had a mushy dough. The bruschetta is, as it was already said in other comments, a soggy slice of bread. Moreover, they charged each of us an extra 2 euro, and when we asked why, they hid it under the ‘city tax’. We googled it now, and there is no such thing. Would never return.

i sat here because i was hungry and i saw two tables which were busy so i guessed it was a good place to have lunch at. i ordered simple pasta in tomato sauce which was okay, it was plain and simple which i was okay with. first the waited had cleaned the crumbs off a table which the customers had just left, on me. it wasn’t a lot but still disgusted me. all the waiters were good except this one man who made me very uncomfortable which is why i put one star. i was waiting out a storm and decided to take a smoke. couldn’t light my cigarette and he held out his palms but i was still unable to. he took my lighter out of my hand without asking, and upon giving it back to me, he took one of my palms into his and held it for one seconds in his palms. he looked at me with a grin and then tried to make small talk. after i told him that i didn’t understand a word he said, he still talked to me. i left after the storm calmed a little bit. i also noticed he kept glancing at me when i was sitting and waiting for my order, and talked to women who sat next to me, but it did look forceful. honestly ruined the whole experience for me. other staff members...

Paid 4€ per service and we got nothing..even what shoud be included in the service, those “sticks” which everyone gives on the table. Behavior to the tourist was awful, waiters were rude and while we were sitting 2 families left, as waiters told them they MUST eat there as they wanted “only coffee”, to the other one they said they must stand up and wait even thought table was empty. We ordered “only” one pizza as we were not so hungry so I think that was the reason why they behave to us like because our bill was not like they expected. I am still angry because i think about this experience everytime when i mention our holiday. And food? Nothing special for that price, 10€ for pizza which was so thin that on some parts ingredients were on the plate and under was no...
