Ingredient Kyoto was in my to-go list since 2023, but I didnt have a chance to visit it since I was chasing momiji then.

This time round, I visited them the moment I reached Kyoto only to find out that a lot of flavours was sold out. Hence, I decided to reserve 3 cakes and collect the next day.

Their signature choux cream puff was rich and fragrant, and the thick cream paired well with the choux pastry even when I ate it a few days after I bought it. The pistachio macaron was quite impressive as the pistachio cream complemented the bits of sour cherry in the entremet. I enjoyed the tinge of alcohol that I could taste in each bite as it elevated the flavour of this macaron.

Lastly, the dark chocolate mousse and raspberry entremet was a perfect combination, as my mouth alternated between the chocolatey goodness and the sour raspberry.

I also bought houjicha financiers, chocolate cookies and vanilla pound cake home to try.

I had a chance to speak to Chef Ken Murata who patiently explained to me about the different flavours in his creations when asked for recommendations.
