I'm currently at a loss of how to handle this situation. I visited Kyoto a few months back and I visited this store. I found the assistant who served me to be very professional and helpful when choosing and purchasing an antique katana, which he said would be sent to my home address in the UK. He said it would take about 3 months, which I was fine with, and everything seemed legitimate. Being an antique meant it was a large investment, but I had full trust in the store at that time. After 4 months I have still not received the item, but this is not the problem as such. I've had no communication from them since I left the store. I gave them my shipping address, phone number and email address, but no tracking number or insurance information has been sent to me, no update of any sort if there is a delay for any reason. I've tried emailing the store several times and have had no response. I've tried contacting them on social media, and no response. I've tried to call them and no answer. I'm now unsure what my next step should be. All I need is some verification that the item is on it's way (ideally with a tracking number), or an email stating if there is a delay. Their lack of communication is appalling and a real concern due to how much money I have spent on the antique. The only course of action I can currently think of is to call my credit card company and action section 75 of the credit card protection act. This would ensure I am fully refunded, but it may also mean Tozando lose a large sum of money if the item has already been shipped, but then I'm not sure I really care as they clearly don't care about...
Read moreThe store has a great selection of items, just such a shame that I couldn’t get anybody to help me. I am a second Dan in aikido, kendo and train in katori Shinto Ryu, iaido and aikiken plus some kashima shin Ryu I was looking forward to buying a new custom iaito and a number of bokkens as definite purchases. Plus thinking about getting some new kote for kendo and some other kendo items and any dvds and books on the kenjustu. I left with nothing because I couldn’t get anybody to help. Gutted. As the stock is immense. Don’t get me wrong one person said hello. I just couldn’t get anymore help than that. Maybe they just thought I was browsing. I just couldn’t get anybody to engage in more than a hello. But I wouldn’t leave a bad review as the stock is good if you can get somebody to serve you or maybe if don’t have Japanese tattoos you may get help. I noticed when I kept my jacket on and hid my half and 3/4 sleeve I got noticeably different reactions when entering stores. So make sure you keep tattoos hidden and maybe you will experience better service too. Just me guessing as they seemed happy to sell an iaito to a young American tourist next to me whilst 4 other employees spoke amongst themselves. But go in see the great stock and try you may do...
Read moreThis is a fantastic shop for anyone who wants to buy or even just look at swords and other martial arts supplies. They even allowed me to go inside and browse despite its still too early when arrived before their opening hours. Grateful to Mr. Sato Shodo who helped me a lot in choosing my Iado samurai sword and tanto knife . I opted to send these via UPS as I am still weeks in Japan before going home to Canada. All the transaction went well and swords even arrived a couple of days before I arrived as planned. All the documents and taxes were all arranged well and the swords are packaged really well too. I highly recommend this shop for anyone who wants to buy swords. They even informed me to visit their other shop just 2 minutes away which displays all higher end samurai...
