During our recent visit to Kyoto, we had the pleasure of dining at Snoopy Chaya Kyoto Nishiki, a charming themed café nestled in the heart of Nishiki Market. This café offers a delightful blend of traditional Japanese cuisine and the beloved Peanuts characters, creating a unique and enjoyable dining experience.
Located at 480 Nakauoyacho, Nakagyo Ward, Kyoto, Snoopy Chaya is easily accessible from Karasuma and Shijō stations. The café occupies the second floor of a traditional Kyoto townhouse, with Snoopy-themed footprints guiding guests upstairs. The interior is cozy and welcoming, adorned with various Peanuts memorabilia, making it a haven for fans of the iconic beagle.
The menu offers a variety of dishes, all presented with a whimsical Snoopy twist. We particularly enjoyed the Snoopy Yaki, a fluffy dorayaki filled with sweet red bean paste and stamped with Snoopy's face. Another standout was the matcha latte, topped with a Snoopy-shaped foam art, adding a playful touch to our beverage.
The staff were friendly and attentive, enhancing the overall experience. As a delightful souvenir, we received a Snoopy-themed coaster with our order, a thoughtful gesture that added to the charm of the visit.

Read moreIf you're a big fan of Peanuts, in particular, Snoopy, you're in luck. Pop by this little Cha Ya (tea shop) and pick up some souvenirs and keep sakes over a cup of tea or coffee and some mochi on sticks with Snoopy's footprints all over it! Prices range from ridiculously affordable to the pretty pricey. Surprisingly, along with a fair selection of junk and trinkets, you'll also find some practical stuff for your home. Be warned that it's usually pretty crowded and if you duck in from the throng pushing and shoving up and down Nishiki Market's main thoroughfare, you'd be lucky if you can find a place to park your rear. Please also be mindful to not wander all over the shop especially near the cashier if you have a drink in hand. You don't want to upset anyone by spilling your drink over another hapless shopper. Crowds tend to get people wound up and the people of Kyoto are not the like the city folk in Tokyo or even Osaka. They frown on bad behaviour and manners because their culture places much emphasis on etiquette, good breeding, discretion and...
Read moreThe attitude of the employees on the first floor is just terrible. Very rude! I see several reviews complaining about the same things.
We were on the line as a group, ready to place an order. The first two out of four of us placed an order, but when it got to our turn, one of the employees screamed at us to go to the back of the line. I was so confused and trying to explain to her that we were on the line and joined the line as a group. She continued screaming at us in Japanese and pointed to the back of the line. I decided to leave altogether and chose not to be...
